Zooey Deschanel lost her childhood home in the wildfires in Los Angeles

The New girl The 45-year-old star shared her loss by posting a series of pictures via Instagram on Friday, January 17.
Among the photos was an image of her childhood home in Pacific Palisades when it was still standing, while another shot from the same vantage point showed it reduced to ash and rubble after the January wildfires ravaged the area.
Other photos showed Zoe’s family, incl her sister and Bones a star Emily Deschanel48, in and out of the house over the years making memories.
“The house of my childhood. A marvel of 1920s Spanish Revival architecture. Filled with too many incredible memories to list, it was one of the oldest homes in the Palisades and so hauntingly beautiful,” Zoe captioned the post. It wasn’t a mansion, but to me it was cozy, wonderful, unique and perfect.”
In a poignant caption, the actress noted how important her home was to her.
“One of my childhood friends called it ‘The Church’ because the 14-foot stained-glass ceilings in the living room cast colorful shadows at the end of the day. And for me it was a sacred place, a shelter where we felt the safest. Christmas dinners, Easter egg hunts, weddings, birthdays, children’s parties… we celebrated the best moments of our lives there,” Zooey wrote. “Family photos in the hallways, artwork, the piano I learned to play on, wedding china, furniture made by my great-great-grandfather…memories of generations past: all gone.”
She continued: “I know we are not alone. Along with another beautiful area of Los Angeles, Alta Dena, the streets of my childhood in Pacific Palisades were all but erased as we knew them. So many people have lost so much.”
Zoe went on to pay tribute to those who supported her, her family and the community. She also gave special praise to the firefighters who worked tirelessly on the front lines, calling them “real heroes”.
“To all the people who came out for us and our community and Los Angeles as a whole: thank you. To the firefighters who worked around the clock to keep everyone safe: you are our true heroes,” added Zoe. “To the friends who thought so wonderfully of us during this time: you wrote and called, came to visit, you cooked us food, you sent clothes to my parents who left with nothing, you cheered us up and you cried with us , when we needed it. Your kindness is what made it bearable. To the strangers who cheered us up with kind gestures: you are the true meaning of community.”
She concluded: “Thank you all for showing us the kindness in your hearts. You have no idea how much this means to us.”
More than 12,000 structures are estimated to have been destroyed by wildfires that have ravaged parts of Los Angeles, including the exclusive Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica and Hollywood Hills. Celebrities like Mandy Moore, Milea Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton and Miles Teller there is among those whose houses burned down.
