Select players will be able to play “a portion of the game prior to the release of the full game,” according to Bandai Namco’s registration page, in order to get an idea of how the company’s servers and online systems will handle a mass of fans playing simultaneously. As for what this “part” will actually contain, Bandai Namco says that players will be able to “experience the game’s co-op experience” by teaming up with two other players to tackle a three-day cycle filled with with “increasingly challenging enemies and bosses”.

Night rain appears to use many of the mechanics, armor, weapons, and abilities of Elden Ringbut drops them into a revamped setting, the “Limveld,” which is a design that changes every time you play. According to Bandai Namco, you start each cycle of the game in the familiar Roundtable Hold, where you can choose one of eight characters with unique abilities and “Ultimates”. The Limveld map you play on will shrink each night and introduce a new boss that, if defeated, allows you to move on to the next day. The process continues until the final, third night, when you face the “Nightlord”. And if you fail at any point in the process and have to start over (as many likely will), you’ll earn a relic that allows you to “customize and upgrade” your character.

Elden Ring Nightreign it was unexpectedly announced at The 2024 Gaming Awardsand it was quite a surprise, not only because The Shadow of Erdtree came out the same year, but as the game’s structure looks remarkably different from anything developer FromSoftware has done before. Anyone lucky enough to be a part of the network test will now be able to see just how different the feel really is.
