After that, the third Test match in Brisbane ended in a draw, mainly due to the rain playing on the course. Rohit Sharma’s batting form has been absolutely awful in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as he has scored fewer runs than Jasprit Bumrah.

One, he can bat at number 3 because if we need to strengthen our bowling a bit – Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar, meanwhile, has said that Rohit’s batting position could be changed if India want to strengthen their bowling unit and suggested that the skipper spend some time in the middle to regain form.

“That’s a mantra for any batsman. I think he can do two things. First, he can get to bat at No. 3 because if we need to strengthen our bowling a little bit and add some sharpness, it can definitely change his number,” Bangar told Star Sports.

Bangar also pointed out that Rohit is getting a bit late while facing the pacers, which has been a major concern.

“Other than that, get ready a little bit early. It looks like it’s getting a little late and it’s also getting late because we saw that his bat wasn’t coming forward for his favorite shot. In general, he doesn’t miss the shot. It’s a signal to every batsman whether he’s playing his best shot or not,” he observed.

While offering a solution to the problem Rohit is facing, the former India batting coach claimed that the Indian skipper needs to stabilize a bit early and will give him extra time to play shots

“If he settles down a bit early, he’ll have a bit of time to get his foot forward, and then he can hit his good shots. The Aussies have bowled him short balls but he’s missed a lot of them. Rohit Sharma needs two or three. shots where he can pick up his pace and feel,” he said.

“Batting is a game of sensations. If you feel that your legs are moving properly and you can play your shots, suddenly you feel your lost confidence coming back. It can also come in the middle of an innings. It doesn’t have to reach the networks,” Bangar concluded.
