Football fans and Swifties devotees alike didn’t watch the Super Bowl in the end Travis Kelce to take the field in the final game of the regular season for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Before the Chiefs’ game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, January 5th official X account released a list of inactive players that included Kelce and a host of Chiefs rookies.

“Our inactives for tonight’s game,” the Chiefs wrote, highlighting Kelce and his teammates at running back Issia Pachecodefender Patrick Mahomescornerback Trent McDuffiewest George Carloftistackle Taylor’s answerand defensive means Chris Jones.

Why did the Chiefs decide to bench so many starters for the final game of the regular season? There’s a good reason for the decision — the 15-1 team has already secured home-field advantage and advanced to the first round of the NFL playoffs. On Christmas Day 2024, the Chiefs clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-10.

Given that the Chiefs’ last game of the regular season was on the road and Kelsey didn’t play, it didn’t come as a huge surprise to Swifties and NFL fans that the tight end’s girlfriend, Taylor Swiftwas not present.

Rest assured that the pop star will likely attend more than a few of the team’s playoff games, especially since the road to the Super Bowl goes through Kansas City.
