Why Kate Hudson decorated her Christmas tree alone this year

Kate Hudson proves that even Hollywood stars face the realities of parenting during the holidays.

The actress of the TV series “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is a proud mother of three children, each of whom had a different chapter in her life. She shares her eldest son, 20-year-old Ryder Robinson, with her ex-husband Chris Robinson, lead singer of The Black Crowes. The former couple was married from 2000 to 2007 and co-parented after their divorce.

In July 2011, Kate gave birth to her second child, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, now 13, with her ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, frontman of the band Muse. Although their romance ended in 2014, the couple continues to co-parent, often sharing moments of their blended family on social media.

As the 2024 holiday season approaches, Kate Hudson gave fans a glimpse into her holiday preparations by sharing two social media posts showing how she’s getting her home ready for the season.

The Glass Onion actress recently shared that her tree-decorating tradition has become a solo endeavor after her children said they were “over it”.

“Started as a family tradition, ended with a solo mission…with wine,” she cheerfully captioned the carousel on Instagram. In the first photo, Hudson is beaming while sitting in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree with a glass of wine. Dressed in a cozy green sweater, Hudson captures the holiday spirit perfectly.

Additional photos show Hudson happily sipping wine and thoughtfully arranging decorations on her tree, clearly enjoying the holiday tradition. “I wasn’t involved in any way, so I’m not sure what your new family is like. I’m telling mom,” her brother Oliver Hudson commented on the post.

In a TikTok That same day, Hudson explained why decorating the tree, once a family activity, turned into an “individual mission.”

She opened the video by explaining this her children “Just decided they were done with it.” “So I have to finish myself,” she said, getting up from her chair to hang more ornaments on the tree.

The actress then added to the banter by singing a remix version of Holly Jolly Christmas, changing the lyrics to: “It’s a lonely, lonely Christmas / I’m the only one decorating here / It’s usually kids everywhere / but tonight I’m alone / I’m a sad and lonely mama.”

She then quipped, “Maybe I should have a Negroni.”

Hudson was born into Hollywood royalty, so life in the spotlight is second nature to her. Born on April 19, 1979 in Los Angeles, California, the actress is daughter of legendary actress Goldie Hawn and musician-actor Bill Hudson.

Still, Hudson has often credited her close bond with her mom’s longtime partner, Kurt Russell, as the most influential father figure in her life. Goldie and Kurt, who have been together since 1983, have created one of Hollywood’s most iconic and enduring blended families, capturing hearts with their decades-long love story and strong family bond.

The Hudson clan didn’t stop there – their spouses and children joined them in the festive photo. Kate posed with her fiance Danny Fujikawa and their blended family, which includes her sons Ryder and Bingham and their daughter Rani.

Meanwhile, Oliver joined his wife Erin Bartlett and their children: sons Wilder and Bodhi and daughter Rio. The company celebrates the warmth of family just in time for the holiday season.
