Carlton Cole has hit out at Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou over his recent comments about Timo Werner.
The Germany international has flattered to deceive this season, showing only sporadically the kind of form that has earned him 57 caps for his country so far.

After the match, Postecoglou — who is he? under immense pressure at Spurs, chose to drag Werner over the coals publicly for his performance.
“Yeah, yeah, I wasn’t playing to the level I should be,” Postecoglou told reporters of his decision to withdraw Werner (via The Boy Hotspur).
The Australian explained: “When you’re 18, they don’t accept me. I told Timo that. He’s a senior international, he’s a German international.
“At the moment we’re in right now, it’s not like we have a lot of options. I need everyone to at least come out and try to give their best. His performance in the first half was not acceptable.”

The England international believes the Australian’s strong criticism of Werner should have been kept private, while also questioning why Postecoglou is even picking the striker if he is so upset with his performances
“If it’s so obvious, go ahead and tell him because now he’s an insult to you and his teammates,” Cole said. talkSPORT of Postecoglou’s comments.
“If you use the media first, before you have gone to tell the player, and then the other players hear it in the press… you will lose the dressing room.
“Because now the players don’t feel like you’re going to protect them when it’s tough.
“I understand what he’s saying and he has every right to say it. But go tell him.
“Because we have it here… Werner is not their star player. So why are you clinging to him? What about the others?
“What is he trying to achieve here? I find it strange.”
