Reports indicated that Ben Affleck will be absent from the Sundance Film Festival, where Jennifer LopezThe film “Kiss of the Spider-Woman” will make its debut.
The “Accountant” star is set to produce the film alongside his best friend Matt Damon. Meanwhile, Lopez serves as the lead character and executive producer.
Jennifer Lopez is also expected to attend the festival along with some of her co-stars and the film’s director.

Ben Affleck doesn’t want his ‘interaction with his ex-wife’ to be the focus of the film festival

Preliminary red carpet line-up received Daily Mail revealed that Ben Affleck has “no plans” to attend the upcoming Sundance Film Festival when his and ex-wife Jennifer Lopez’s film premieres.
Titled “Kiss of Spider-Woman,” Lopez stars in the project and also serves as an executive producer.
Affleck is also part of the production team through his production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded with best friend Matt Damon.
It is believed that the actor will skip the event because he knows that it will only shift the focus from the film to his “interaction” with his ex-wife.

“Ben has worked hard on the film and that’s something he’s proud of,” the source said. “But he knows that if he goes to Sundance, his appearance will mean that the focus will not be on his artwork, but rather on his interactions with his ex.”

Ben Affleck has ‘completely moved on’ from his ‘failed marriage’

According to the source, Affleck has “completely moved on with his life,” despite the fact that he and Lopez only recently finalized their split.
“The last thing he wants is for his work to be overshadowed by his past relationships. He wants people to talk about the movie, not his failed marriage,” the insider claimed.
Aside from Affleck, there’s also a strong possibility that Damon won’t be at the premiere, despite being listed as a producer on the film, as are his best friends.
“The last time Matt went to support a movie that Jennifer starred in, there was drama when Matt and Jennifer were talking,” the source shared, referring to the actor’s appearance at Lopez’s “The Expendables” premiere.

“That was all people focused on and the film didn’t get credit – just that they were talking and making physical contact,” they added.
When it premieres on January 26, Lopez will likely be in the company of director Bill Condon and producers Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahi and Greg Yolen, who were listed in the preliminary red carpet lineup.

Affleck recently finalized his divorce from Lopez, officially ending their nearly two-year marriage.
When they tied the knot, the duo didn’t have a prenuptial agreement, which apparently led to their decision to enlist the help of celebrity attorney Laura Wasser to mediate their divorce.
As part of the settlement, Lopez kept all of her earnings since their split in April 2024, and kept the more than $5 million engagement ring she received from the actor.
As for Affleck, he has retained his stake in his production company, which he founded in 2022.
Meanwhile, it’s time to split the proceeds from the sale of his $61 million Beverly Hills mansion. The property has been on the market since July of last year, but has yet to attract a single dedicated buyer despite being publicly listed by the duo.
Why the couple did not become petty during the divorce

After their divorce, the insider revealed InTouch that Affleck and Lopez never intended to “pick on” each other and plan to remain friends.
“Jennifer and Ben are officially divorced and the only bright spot is that they never got ugly. Many thought that their lawyers would engage in nasty nagging on behalf of each of them, but they both decided to leave the marriage as amicably as possible,” a source told the publication.
The insider also noted that while “there was a lot at stake,” the former couple decided not to fight over their assets.

“Ben and Jennifer weren’t going to value each other, they respected each other too much for that,” the source said. “I’m not saying it never crossed their mind, it just wasn’t worth it. They have too much history together. They actually broke up as friends.”

Looking ahead, it seems that Lopez and Affleck have decided to stay friendly after their breakup.
After the divorce, they were seen together several times, including when Lopez visited Affleck’s house.
Most recently, Lopez visited Affleck before the Golden Globes, where they were seen sharing a heartfelt hug with his 12-year-old son, Samuel.
She also reunited with her former partner in December, exchanging gifts to celebrate the festive season.
