Wendy Williams was recently spotted at her son’s graduation

Wendy Williams was spotted at her son’s Florida International University Miami graduation on Thursday. – shares the 60-year-old former host of the talk show Kevin Hunter Jr., 24 years old, with ex-husband, Kevin Hunter.

In 2023, Williams was diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and was placed in a residential care facility by her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. The daytime diva has rarely been seen in public since her diagnosis and has reportedly had limited contact with her family.

Still, Williams was all smiles as she watched Kevin Jr. graduate from Miami.

Williams was on a motorized scooter to the graduation ceremony, but that didn’t stop the former talk show host from looking her best in a sequined dress paired with Chanel boots, for PEOPLE.

The diva’s scooter also sported a Louis Vuitton coaster. Williams also wore her signature “W” necklace, along with other gorgeous jewelry.

Also in attendance were Williams’ father, Thomas Williams Sr., 93, and her sister, Wanda Feeney. According to The New York PostKevin Jr. received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Stephen J. School of International and Public Affairs. Green at FIU.

A proud mother was seen wiping away tears as she watched her only child graduate from college. In 2021 and 2022, Kevin Jr. reportedly took time off from school to care for his mother as her health worsened. Williams has previously shared with the public that she suffers from alcohol abuse and has also been open about her struggles with Graves’ disease and lymphedema.

In a Lifetime documentary, Kevin said, “Where’s Wendy Williams?” that his family was kept away from Williams and he worried that her guardian did not have her best interests at heart.

“I feel like the guardian didn’t do a good job of protecting my mom,” he said.

In November guardian announced that Williams was “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated” due to dementia.

In 2019, Williams filed for a divorce from Hunter Sr. after learning he fathered a child with another woman.

Williams had to pay alimony to her ex-husband. However, Morrissey cut him off and sued him in April demanding $112,500 in child support back from Williams. The guardian claimed Hunter was “overpaid” because of the auto-pay feature set up on Williams’ bank account.

The Wendy Williams Show was on canceled in 2022, as Wendy dealt with mounting health issues. The show ran for 13 seasons while Williams drank celebrity tea from her infamous purple chair.

Williams had hoped to launch a podcast titled “The Wendy Experience” as early as August 2022, but the podcast never materialized. In a Lifetime documentary, Kevin said he felt his mother was surrounded by the wrong people who took advantage.

“My mom, she always talks about how she wants to work, but I feel like she’s worked enough,” he said. “There are people around her who are ‘people like that’ and they let it go on.”

Last August, Williams and her son were also seen shopping together in New Jersey. The duo was photographed at Bolingo Balance, an African biomineral cell store in Newark. The store is owned by Victor Bowman, son of herbalist Alfred “Dr. Seby” Bowman.

The photo was posted on the store’s Instagram account with the caption: “Much love to Wendy Williams and her son @topfloor_kev. I remember when I met Kevin in Usha Village, my dad told me I want you to meet Wendy’s son. At that time, in Usha, we were the same age.”

During the visit, Wendy was reported to be “sharp, bubbly and knowledgeable” and “very bubbly”.
