Social media is in a frenzy after a video shared on Instagram showed two men serving tea in disposable cups while walking down the aisle of an IndiGo flight, as the duo appeared to mimic the service style used by Indian trains to fill a bottle of tea while one of the men was watching the female passenger sitting.

Here is the video.

The video quickly went viral, garnering over 600,000 views and generating comments ranging from humor to criticism. “There will be mung phali wala chaat masala coming soon,” referring to vendors selling snacks on trains.

Conversely, other users expressed concern about the appropriateness of the situation, with one stating: “Aviation has become a joke in India… Gone are the good days of Jet Airways…

Echoing similar sentiments, a second user commented:

The incident raised questions about the airline’s adherence to regulations during the flight, with one commentator pointing to a lack of safety. “I wonder how they got the tea through security. Security doesn’t allow 200 water; this guy got 1 liter of tea”.

Amid mixed reactions, another user praised the men’s act, describing it as “pure Rajasthani hospitality”, noting that one of the men even promised: THIS IS SO COOL.”

The incident adds to a growing list of controversies surrounding Indian airlines and has sparked discussions on social media about passenger safety, professionalism and service standards.

In a related high-profile case, SheSays founder Trisha Shetty has accused IndiGo staff of being unhelpful after her mother was reportedly “robbed” on a flight. According to Shetty’s social media post, the staff put her mother’s handbag on top in the cabin while he slept.

One passenger allegedly took the bag but returned it after being confronted. Shetty criticized the airline staff for their lack of support in filing a complaint, stating: Dear IndiGo, My mother was robbed on your flight 6E 17. The flight crew held her carry-on bag while she fell asleep. Fortunately, he woke up when he was changing his bag. Your staff refused to help him file a complaint. The thief was making excuses.”
