Volvo reveals its ES90 EV with 800 volt charging system
Volvo The ES90, the fully electrified version of its S60 sedan, has officially launched. While the vehicle can technically be considered a sedan, Volvo says that there is “adaptability of speed and spacious inner and higher clearance of the ground connected to the SUV”. This is the first Volvo EV with an 800-volt system that promises faster charging times. Because Volvo’s 800-volt technology uses lighter components to reduce the total weight of the vehicle, it can also lead to a longer range and better acceleration.
For the ES90, more special, Volvo promises a driving range of 700 kilometers or 435 miles, although the official EPA range can be more. When it is included in a fast charger with 350 kW, the model can add 300 kilometers (186 miles) in just 10 minutes, and its 106 kWh battery can pass from 10 to 80 percent full in just 20 minutes. All vehicle variants have a top speed of 112 miles / h, but the Twin Motor Performance version (all wheels drive) has the fastest acceleration and can pass from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
ES90 was built on top of the Volvo Cars Superset technological stack, just like Ex90 waterS This is a set of hardware and software that will serve as the basis for all Volvo electric vehicles and will allow the air updates to be unleashed at the same time for all its EVS, if necessary. The ES90, however, is the first Volvo model to be powered by Dual Nvidia Drive Agx Orin The configuration that the company’s chief engineering and technology director says that makes it “the most powerful car (Volvo) ever created in terms of the basic computational capacity”.
Volvo gave the ES90 slightly raised ride height and the design of the Thor’s Hammer headlights, along with its new C-shaped LED rear lamps. It also equips the vehicle with an array of sensors that include one lidar, five radars, seven cameras and twelve ultrasound sensors for its active safety systems that can help drivers avoid collision and dangers. Inside the owners can individually fold their three rear seats for more space. And while the panoramic roof provides 99.9 percent UV protection, buyers can choose the electrochrome version that will allow them to darken the glass and reduce the glare when touching a button. Owners can access the model information and entertainment system of their 14.5-inch central screen, which comes with built-in Google applications, including maps and assistant.
Interested buyers can now order the ES90 in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Volvo will put it in more markets later this year and in 2026.
