Virat Kohli or Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was at fault? Parthiv Patel drops the truth bomb as it ends
Former Indian national cricket team player Parthiv Patel spoke about the mix-up between Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal on the second day of the ongoing fourth Test against Australia. He said it was a mistake by the lefty as he didn’t need to take the quick single.
Indian national cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had a bad end to his knock as the batsman was involved in a horrific mix-up with Virat Kohli and got out. His wicket sent the visitors into a slump as they lost all three wickets in an instant.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is over after getting mixed up with Virat Kohli
Yashasvi Jaiswal made a good run to mid off against Scott Boland and called for a quick run and took off. Kohli, however, didn’t seem interested as he watched the ball spin back, not looking at his fellow batsman.
Kohli kept looking at the ball and was close to his crease even as Yashasvi Jaiswal kept running. Pat Cummins attacked the ball and flicked it to the striker’s end but it missed the target. Alex Carey ran, collected the ball and made the run to end the batsman’s innings with 82 runs.
The situation changed after that outing: Parthiv Patel
Parthiv Patel while talking about the match said that the outing changed the entire course of the match. He emphasized that India were in complete control and stressed that both Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal were batting at their best. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he explained:
“The way India started the session, the way the game went in the last half hour, there were about 25 minutes left by then, India were in complete control. Especially the way the runs were coming, the speed at which the runs Everything was in India’s favor There was a big question about Virat Kohli was giving a lot of answers.
“He was showing a lot of patience, he was forcing Australia to bowl him. Yashasvi Jaiswal was also playing his game. The way he was playing, he was playing his game but the unfortunate run out from where he changed the whole game . The situation changed after that completion.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal made a mistake, looked in a hurry – Parthiv Patel
Parthiv Patel also believes it was a mistake by Yashasvi Jaiswal as the fielding was so close, and Kohli did not expect the young batsman to run. He said that even if a run was made, there was a chance that Kohli would be run out at the striker’s end. He explained:
“If we go to the fundamentals of cricket if the ball is behind you then the call is from the striker, and here the call was by Yashasi Jaiswal, there is no doubt about it. But the mid-on was in front of Virat Kohli. So , I don’t think Virat Kohli expected Yashasvi Jaiswal to ask for a run error here – he looked in a hurry.
“There was no need for that. It was such a call. If Virat Kohli had run, there might have been a chance of being run out at the end. And the kind of game that was going on, the kind of situation it was, it wasn’t necessary make that run because the boundaries came easily.”
