View Technics AZ100: Supreme Volume quality and unique Bluetooth tool
I was not impressed with the last pair of ears for the technique I looked at. Thehe AZ70W was the first set to bear the logo of the emblematic margarine brand after serious contenderS The company followed in 2021 with Two more wireless headset optionsand 2023 AZ80 He was well appreciated by many reviewers for the quality of his sound.
For its model 2025, Technics dug into your bag with tricks In order to improve the already mighty Az80 leading to AZ100 ($ 300)S These leading headsets offer brand new drivers, adaptively active noise cancellation (ANC), AI-split voice instruments, spatial sound of Dolby Atmos and a pure tool that none of the competition does. Fortunately, the AZ100 makes the promise of “Epic, a high -resolution reference quality”.
Sound
I am well aware that I am skipping several generations of Technics Earbuds from the AZ70W, but it also means that I have a much more picture of how much the company has improved from the beginning. The AZ100 is the Sonic Marvel compared to this first model, offering some of the best sound quality in each of the hundreds of headphones I’ve tested over the years.
The technology behind audio amplification is the new magnetic fluid drivers. Technics says they offer “low distortion, accurate bass and high resolution”. These parts are developed with the company’s know-how by it $ 1,200 EAH-TZ700 in ear monitors (IEM), which are also collected in 10 mm magnetic fluid drivers. The fluid is integrated into the voice coil of the driver to ensure a precise movement of the diaphragm, leading to minimal distortion and excellent clarity through the sound scene.
Technics also made sure to improve the performance of the AZ100 bass. These drivers help to do this, but the headset also has a new acoustic control camera and a harmonizer to expand low -end capabilities. In addition, it does not hurt that the AZ100 supports both Dolby Atmos for spatial audio and Sony Ldac High-Res wireless audio codec. Although the former is common in the leading sets, the second is rare outside Sony’s own headsets and headsets.
The AZ100 is at best with high-resolution tunes such as the Apple Music Dolby Atmos catalog. With Alt-Rock/Post-Hardcore of LS Dunes Violet, Rumors deliver a large, shock bass that remains tight and detailed. The kick’s drum, for example, has a thunderstorm and serves as a primary canvas for the refinement technique made on the AZ100 audio platform. Even older albums of the early auto, such as the cast of Appleseed Sea Wrap you with drums, duel guitars and the atmosphere of live performance rather than a recorded album. This is impressive when you think this is a flow of no loss to Apple Music, not Dolby Atmos.
Speaking of spatial audio, this is an area in which the AZ100 stumbles on the quality of the sound. This immersive mode comes with or without dynamic Dolby’s head tracking and when it turns on, the sound becomes too thin to like. The energy that the enhanced bass brings to the stock setting does not have, leaving a more sterile audio profile, which is a little boring.
Anc performance
Billy Steel for Engadget
Despite the use of the technique of its “most modern” rustling technology, the AZ100 is lagging with the best in this regard. These headsets use an adaptive ANC that automatically adjusts to your environment, but it’s not as good as what Bose offers to Quietcomfort Ultra EarbudsS The AZ100 will serve you well in some situations, but as a large part of the competition, they do not handle the chatty neighbors in the office and do not muffle constant sources of noise such as fans and white noise machines.
Application and features
Each headset company offers cover application nowadays, although their usefulness can vary greatly. Technics has packaged a lot in its software, and most of what you need is often on the home screen. Once the AZ100 is paired with your phone, the app shows the battery life for the earbuds individually and the case on top. You then get a guide to use, noise cancellation controls, predefined equivalents and Voice Focus AI test. At the bottom there is a quick access to the surrounding sound, EQ and a more detailed setting menu.
The settings menu is where things start to go wrong. Simply put, there are so many options here that all this can be impossible. And in some cases, the elements that should be higher are closer to the bottom -as a customization of tip controls. Spatial audio can only be activated from this menu, which I would claim to be an element of the home screen. There are many to help you configure the AZ100 to your liking, but it will take some time to find everything you need.
A unique feature that Technics offers is a multi -point Bluetooth connectivity for up to three devices. I have not experienced this on other headsets, but the function is not without warnings. First, LDAC audio cannot be used when three devices are connected, most likely due to Bluetooth limitations. In fact, Technics recommends deactivating the multi -volume if you want to listen to LDAC quality tunes. With the app, the company allows you to choose whether Multipoint will switch devices during media playback or when a call occurs. I used Multipoint with my phone and laptop only, but if a tablet is also part of your daily workflow or you have a special workshop, I can see the usefulness of a triple threat.
Call quality

Voice Focus voice test is a tool that allows you to hear how you will sound conversations with the AZ100. A nice feature is to determine if the headphones are good enough for important calls or virtual presentations. And for this purpose, the AZ100 sounds clear and somewhat natural when you are in a quiet place. When you move to a stronger location and the voice focus AI begins, you will sound more Robotic and processed. People on the other side will also hear you none of the background noise, but the quality of the voice is noticeably suffering.
There are two options for atmospheric sound – transparent and attention – but none of them helps much with voice and video calls. The AZ100 does not drive your voice back through the headset, so you have to talk to hear yourself. When in environmental mode, the transparent allows all the sound through the headphones without change, while focusing more on the voices. In fact, I found transparent to be better than both of them in any case, even when I tried to listen to someone talking.
Battery life
Technics promises up to 10 hours of battery life with Ant activated, plus another 18 hours, when you report in the case of wireless charging. If you choose LDAC audio, these figures fall to seven hours and 11 hours respectively. After 10 hours of use with noise noise included, the AZ100 still had 20 percent battery. Based on the speed of exhaustion I was experiencing, that would be enough for two more hours. And when you find yourself in a pinch, a 15-minute charging will give you up to 90 minutes of use.
Design updates
Billy Steel for Engadget
You need to go quite far from the AZ100 specification sheet to discuss design updates. This is because sound and technology superstructures are a true story here. But Technics made some changes in the appearance of these headsets compared to the AZ80, including reducing size and weight. The company says the processed form allows the AZ100 with the IPX4 rating to better embrace your ears curves for increased comfort and stability. This is true because the headphones always remain in place and have never experienced irritation, even after hours of use.
Both the Earbuds sensor panel and the box lid are decorated with the logo of the iconic Technics in gold on textured metal (both for black and silver color options). This definitely gives the whole set a premium look, although I am sure that not everyone will be excited about gold. None of the changes in design are a huge deviation from the predecessor of the AZ100, but the deliberate sophistication, especially for shape and fit, are remarkable.
Race
Before the arrival of AZ100, Bowers & Wilkins stood on top of Engadget List of best wireless headsets In the category for the best sound for a long time. The company was recently brought to number two in the hands of the incredible but expensive Focus rex5 From noble audio. Neither Bowers & Wilkins nor Technics can compete with the setting of five drivers that Noble offers, but the two companies offer excellent sound quality for less than the $ 449 dollar price of Fokus Rex5.
As the competition is already for second place, I give an advantage to the AZ100. There’s something to like Pi8 on Bowers & WilkinsAnd if you prefer a more natural sound with a less boom tone than low-end, they are probably the chosen ones for you. I like the added bass that the new technical drivers provide and has a longer list of features for AZ100. With regard to the efficiency of ANC, I also give a nod to the technique, plus the AZ100 is $ 100 less than PI8.
Wrapping
It’s hard to follow a highly valuable product with another great. Perhaps that is why many audio companies rarely make huge changes to the headset and headset for new models, choosing instead of maintaining sound quality and ANC performance sequentially. “If it doesn’t break …” and all that.
Technics thought it could make its well-viewed AZ80 even better by borrowing technology from another recording in its portfolio and Gamble finally paid off. Of course, you can find better noise features with Bose and more modern features with Sony, but Technics formulates the excellent sound quality that few can cause. I would say that Best of Ces Award She was well won.
