View iPad Air M3: Once again, Pro iPad for most
We are now in the middle of 2020 and the iPad still feels like the same offer as always: a really great tablet that can strive to be a substitute for your laptop if you are well adjustable with the software. And once again, the “iPad Air” remains wrong: this is not the smallest iPad. However, this is the “professional” budget for most people.
IPad Air and iPad Pro were updated a year ago; thehe iPad Air received a m2 processorwhile iPad Pro received m4 And a total transformation, including a fantastic new OLED display. The iPad Pro has not yet been refreshed and remains extremely expensive at $ 999 and more. In the meantime, the air has received a boom in the M3 processor chip and updated and a slightly more cheap magic keyboard. And starts at $ 599, the same as before.
These updates are not exciting. In fact, it’s hard to come up with a time when I was less excited than an iPad update. This does not mean that the award -winning efficiency without the added price is not welcome, but nothing is introduced at all.
A year ago I called the iPad Air “iPad Pro you need to buy.” So, obviously, my feelings remain unchanged. As nice as the Fancier M4 iPad Pro may be, spending an additional $ 400 for it now, when it’s a year old, it seems a lot to ask. The iPad Air may be a little more childish and lacks face identification number … and Lidar on the back … and a chip M4 … and OLED display … But what the air has is a very good performance and still works with Pencil Pro. Are you fine with these compromises?

Apple Intelligence still doesn’t feel necessary
Then again, for most people there is another iPad to consider: the main one. The new iPad entranceAlso, arriving at the same time with this air sounds like more than enough. I have not tested this yet (Apple has not sent one for viewing at the same time with this air), but with 128 GB of storage and a better A16 processor (which cannot work on Apple Intelligence), this is a good option worth considering. If you want to use Pencil Pro and plan to use power or AI or IPAD graphic features, then the air is your budget choice.
I looked at a 13-inch iPad Air Configuration Apple sent me to test with 1TB storage. This is an expensive iPad ($ 1299) and at that price I would just consider upgrading a professional. But the 11-inch model, with a less built-in storage space, will be the one I will look at. (The aspect ratio of the 13-inch model of the model is still a strong mailbox anyway, which makes it less ideal for watching video than you would think).
Once again, Air, Pro and Mini models are your Pencil Pro compatibility gateways.
Air VS iPad: $ 250 more gets you some upgrades
There are reasons to spend more on this iPad from an entry level of $ 349, even if you spend $ 250 more to get it. The two large compatibility of the M3 CHIP and Pencil Pro ($ 129, sold separately).
The increase of the M3 above the A16 chip remains to be seen (as I said, I have not tested the new iPad yet), but the M3 is a big jump in the graphics, AI ability and speed will not remain out of date soon. Most iPad owners do not need horsepower, but as Apple has once again cut the standard iPad from Apple Intelligence compatibility, you may feel more peace of mind with the long -term air.
The same applies to Pencil Pro, the better Apple stylus. This is more so-dusted than a simple pencil tool that works with iPad, and the reason artists make air without a brain.
It is felt that Apple deliberately cut off the Pencil Pro support and a chip, which is on Apple Intelligence from the entrance level, just to make the temptation more clear, but this is the way it goes this year.

Air VS Pro: The benefits of a professional professional are reduced
It is more difficult to justify spending more about the iPad Pro right now. The M3 vs the M4 Chip Performance Gap decreased compared to last year’s M2 vs. M4 gap. The iPad Air also works with the same type of magic keyboard this year with Pencil Pro. The iPad Pro gets you a high-point HDR OLED display, a thinner design, face face and lidar on the back if you take care of these things, but these features come on a $ 400 price jump. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
Apple Intelligence needs more features to do it, but a set of tools is likely to grow.
M3 chip? Of course, this is a nice upgrade
Apple’s M Series Chips are fantastic performers, but I would say that their iPad achievements are more difficult to evaluate, unless you are a power diving in AI, graphics or video or photo work. M2 iPad Air. And the M4 iPad Pro approximately 26% faster than the M3 iPad Air in multitudeship, on paper.
But even Apple does not compare the profits of the M CHIP year of the year. Against M2, it is gradually. You will feel like a big jump if you are using the iPad M-Series for the first time.
Strange how the two updated magic keyboards (Air M3, left and iPad Pro M4, right) are still a little different. Keyboards and function keys, but one has a bigger trackpad.
Magic Keyboard: A better option now than it was
If you already have a M2 iPad Air Magic keyboard from last year, which works on the M3 model, you do not need a new magic keyboard. But the slightly lower price ($ 269 and up) and added a number of functional keys to the new magic keyboard make it a better choice (although it still doesn’t return to work in style foil mode). This said this is my favorite option for laptoping your iPad.
However, the magic keyboard is heavy and adds a thickness of your iPad as well. I got used to it, but on the 13-inch iPad Air makes the whole thing heavier than MacBook Air. Just a warning. But there are also slight differences between the iPad Air and iPad Pro Magic keyboards. For some reason, the TrackPad area is more big for the professional, and the keyboard is more shifted while it remains the same size. I prefer the iPad Pro keyboard layout and I don’t know why the air could not do the same.
But there are more differences: there is no backlight on the Air keyboard that the Pro version has. Also, the internal material is not aluminum as a professional. And the smaller trackpad uses a physical mechanism to click instead of the haptic click of the Pro version. It has a USB-C port, as Pro One does, but the corners are cut here in several ways.

IPad, the same as always
Apple Intelligence In the last year, it has been the big software focus on Apple, and just like last year, the iPad Air can manage all AI generative features that Apple has put into the iPados. Currently, these features are just not too amazing … or useful. Summarizing messages and notifications can become annoying and even misleading. Image sailing and genetji exceptions image is not so good when genertific excluded images that you can get in other applications. And while Chatgpt is integrated into Siri, you can also use Chatgpt in the Chatgpt app. And with reports that the promised reconstruction of Apple on Siri It slowed down againIt seems that you are in no hurry to perceive Apple’s intelligence in your life. This is still a set of features they feel they are in beta.
The iPad is, you know, multifaceted. It can work with tons of applications. May be multi -tagged (to some extent), something The M Series Chips can make Even with a connected monitor. It may feel like a laptop. This can be a complete computer experience if you want it to be. It’s It’s not the same as MacHowever, which drives me crazy. Once again I write this review on the iPad Air, but I will submit the review of my MacBook because working on our CMS is not always easy for the iPad. They are not the same as MACS. The split identity of Apple’s computer composition is moving forward and you have to decide again whether you are a person on an iPad or Mac person or both.
You can be both, and I am. But in this case, you don’t want to spend a lot on this iPad, do you? The input iPad feels valuable as a casual accessory, while the price of the iPad Air is somewhat affordable ($ 599) per high -end laptop if you accumulate storage (up to 1TB configurations are on the faucet) or add accessories like Apple Pencil Pro or Magic Keyboard.
The iPad Air is well done, but this is not the thinnest iPad.
Next time, don’t call it air, maybe?
Apple has removed the “iPad Air” from the back of this iPad Air. Now there is only an Apple logo. Maybe it’s a sign. The air means nothing right now in the Apple iPad universe. The air is very good and in the right configuration, this can be very good to be the future, more accessible iPad that is ideal for you – especially if you are interested in pressing an iPad difficult for tools that will need M3 performance. Do not exceed and you will be happy.
What do I really want here? Well, I said it before, I would like these wonderful keyboards, powerful iPad, to become MACS with the click of one button. That would help me. And, surely, the OLED display would be nice. But the air covers all the other bases I ever need. I just can’t justify them that they are super expensive if they are not ready to make a jump in MacOS convertibles as well. Apple’s focus on low and middle iPads this time may mean that they agree. Or the M5 Pro chip is just not ready yet.
