View “Deli Boys”: This can be your new Hulu favorite show
When you think about shows, including mafia, family feuds, drug trafficking and head characters, I bet sopranos, power or breaking bad come to mind. What you probably didn’t imagine is a couple of bizarre Pakistani-American brothers, accidentally learning how to manage a cocaine empire from a Philadelphia corner store. In Hulu’s Deli Boys, which debuted on March 6, Raj Dar by Asif Ali and Saagar Shah are doing everything possible – and the worst – to help themselves and the business survive.
The first 10 minutes of the series set the tone in this wild, genre-bending mix of dark comedy, criminal drama and action by creator Abdullah Said. And this mixture makes it a ridiculous fun clock that causes a weed -like feeling or The Brothers Sun. In the boys, a lot happens and begins with the unexpected bloody death of the rich family patriarch Baba (Ikbal Teba), who managed many companies that bring their sons – and the rest of the family – in difficulty after he died. And by “the rest of the family” I mean a family of crime.
Sheikh plays the older brother Raj, a free-minded professional groin who loves marijuana, is conscious of a chakra and has a room in his home that he shares with his girlfriend with a unanimity, a prairie. Ali plays the role of the younger brother Mir, who wants to follow his father’s corporate steps to run the family chain of comfort stores. None of them knows that their father is part of the crime underworld until he is gone, and they receive a fun course for a crash in reality from the “aunt” of Po -Jagantan, Lucky and Uncle Ahmad (Brian George).
For years, a grandmother has been selling cocaine hidden in Ahaar jars, which all the time funded their luxurious lifestyle. The fact that he is dead does not mean that it is over. The debts are due and Dars must survive.
Raj, Mir, Aunt Lucky and Uncle Ahmad plead their work before the crime boss.
“Why would you steal your own cocaine, you idiots?” Lucky asks the couple while packing the product in their underwear. Her difficult love and coaching in the drug game introduce the brothers by making deals with an Italian mafia boss, competition with a competitive family and warmth from a cartel. Working with her nitwit nephews and stylish weapons and business skills make the lucky funny character. She is a stones killer who teaches them that sometimes they should be.
Each half an hour, the episode of peace and gift are constantly shocked and confused as protected “spoiled brothers”, which are thrown into meetings with enemies inside and outside their inner circles while facing the FBI control and arguing, as sisters do. In one scene, they have to dispose of a body and it does not go according to plan. This is a sequence that plays in the fashion of Goofball, but ends a bloody mess. Teamwork and damp work have fun hand in hand. As I said, very much happens here.
Raj and peace, looking confused as usual.
Looking at them how to understand what the hell do, sometimes you wonder, “Now, why would they do it?” Raj and peace are often unsure of this new path, and a topic for family helps to think this part of history. And this is a story filled with colorful people like Tan France, who plays Hitman, and also has a cocaine boss who is emotionally sensitive to his craft. Guillermo Diaz even appears as a guest star who makes some supernatural acrobatics.
Deli Boys is colorful, cheeky and strong – with a few cool combat sequences and aggressively violent deaths that are designed to be the opposite of the disturbing. The chemistry of the Asif and Sheiki brothers is convincing in their depiction of peace and Raj. Everyone around them is difficult to believe in them, and sometimes it is difficult for themselves. Should we root for these brothers to succeed as cocaine traders? I’m not sure, but it’s worth traveling to ABC Deli with these guys.
