Ukraine claims to have struck a Russian oil refinery with a major drone attack

Andrey Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine’s anti-disinformation center, said on Telegram that an oil refinery in Ryazan, as well as a Kremni plant in Bryansk, were hit. Kyiv reports that this facility produces components for missiles and other weapons.

Bloggers on the Telegram social network shared images and videos of fires raging in Ryazan. Footage confirmed by the BBC shows people fleeing the area in cars when the fire broke out.

Russia’s state news agency RIA reports citing a statement that the Kremni plant in Bryansk has suspended operations after an attack involving six drones. The governor of the region, Pavel Malkov, said that emergency services have responded.

The Kremlin acknowledged the attacks, but did not report any damage or casualties.

He claimed to have destroyed 121 Ukrainian drones, including 6 in Moscow region, 20 in Ryazan region and several in the border region of Bryansk.

The mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, said that the city’s air defense forces prevented attacks by Ukrainian drones at 4 points.

According to him, the air defense forces in Kolomna and Ramenskoye, southeast of the capital, also repelled drones, but how many. He said there was no damage.
