Uber accuses doordash of anti -competitive practices in trial
Uber judges Doordashaccusing the largest food supplier of food in the United States for putting pressure on restaurants to use his services exclusively. According to The Wall Street Journal and Financial timesUber brought the case to California on February 14th. Uber said he filed a lawsuit after hearing from Restaurants across the country, which were left without no choice but to “do (doordash) caves require or pay the price”.
Both Doordash and Uber Eats offer their restaurant delivery services, even for customers who buy from their own website or a place application. At the same time, they also offer advertising within their applications for those who want to promote their business. Doordash has a significantly larger share than the Uber Eats market and has previously stated that 90 percent of the main restaurants in the United States are available on its platform.
Doordash is supposed to have threatened to charge higher tariffs for commissioned orders, made through its market, if the restaurant is also on Uber Eats. In its complaint, Uber said that in one case the company threatened to increase the percentage of a restaurant commission by 30 percent for a placed order. The court case indicates another case where Doordash claims to have told a restaurant that it would cost them millions of dollars additional fees if it also united with Uber. In 2024, a large group of restaurants scraped long -standing plans to launch Uber after threats from Doordash to increase the commission tariffs, Uber said. In addition, Doordash supposedly threatened to dismantle restaurants available to Uber as part of its application.
Now Uber asks the court to force DOORDASH to change its business practices. Meanwhile, Dordash denied all the accusations. “The Uber case has no merit,” the company said. “Their claims are unfounded and on the basis of their inability to offer traders, consumers or couriers a quality alternative.”
