He first added 41 runs to the side Kagiso Rabada (13), steadying the ship after a mid-innings collapse, then extended the lead with a last-man stand of 47 runs. Dan Paterson (12).

Pakistan stumbles on South Africa’s leadership

South Africa’s bowlers built on Bosch’s heroics to put Pakistan under immense pressure in their second innings. At the close of play on day 2, the the visitors were struggling at 88/3still behind by two runs. The initial pair of Saim Ayub (28) and captain Shan Masood (28) provided a positive start, countering South Africa’s formidable pace attack with an opening stand of 49 runs. However, Pakistan’s progress was derailed as they lost three wickets for just 25 runs in deteriorating light conditions. Kagiso Rabada provided the breakthrough, dismissing Ayub with a searing delivery that brought him off stump.

Marco Jansen further strengthened South Africa’s grip by removing Masood and the top run-scorer of the first innings Kamran Ghulam (8) in rapid succession. Jansen took advantage of the gloomy conditions brilliantly, finding the outside edges of both batsmen with well-aimed deliveries at slip and gully respectively. Now Pakistan’s hopes continue Babar Azam (16 not out) i Saud Shakeel (8 not out), who showed some resilience before bad light could end the day’s play early. South Africa recovers from middle order collapse

Earlier, South Africa’s strong position came after overcoming a worrying collapse in their first innings. The team was cruising at 178/4 when a spell of fire Naseem Shah led to a spectacular slide, reducing them to 213/8. Naseem went on a 10-run marathon, claiming three crucial wickets, including the prized scalp of the opener. Aiden Markramwho top-scored with a fluent 89. Markram missed out on what would have been his eighth Test century, beating a leg-side delivery from Khurram Shahzad to the goalkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. His dismissal left South Africa’s middle order vulnerable, with the captain Temba Bavuma (31) i David Bedingham (30) cannot convert their starts either.

Bavuma and Markram had earlier steadied the innings with a 70-run fourth stand. However, dismissal of Bavuma, finishing a long ball from Aamer Jamalit opened the floodgates for Pakistan’s bowlers. Bedingham fought back briefly and smashed five boundaries in his 33-ball knock, but Naseem’s extra bounce proved too much to handle as Bedingham bowled a fine delivery to slip just before lunch. South Africa’s collapse looked set to swing the momentum back to Pakistan until Bosch’s late heroics turned the tide dramatically.

Bosch’s counter-attack, along with Paterson’s resilient batting, not only extended the lead but also demoralized Pakistan’s bowling attack. Paterson showed his own batting skills, hitting a straight six off the return Mohammad Abbas (1/79), which was returning after three years. Although Bosch fell short of what could have been a memorable debut century, his contribution ensured that South Africa went into Pakistan’s second innings with momentum firmly on their side.
