StreamElements today released its State of Streaming Report: A Year in Review for Twitch in 2024. The chart shows that while Twitch itself appears to have made it through 2024. with roughly a similar number of views as 2023, the actual streamers that make up the top list are mixed.

The report reveals that Twitch closes out the January-November period with 18.5 billion watch hours, close to the 18.9 billion figure for 2023. Daily watch hours for most of the year have remained steady in the 52-55 million range the hours; the first quarter of the year had the most views, from 61 million (January) to 57 million (March).

In addition to the hours watched statistics, StreamElements also published the list of the best streamers of 2024, which includes several new names. Jynxzi, Caedrel, caseoh_ and Papaplatte joined the roster for the first time. Kai Cenat remained the most popular streamer of the year, just as he was in 2023, and he broke the all-time subscription record on Twitch.

Eli Perry, CEO of StreamElements, said in a statement, “Twitch has churned out some top streamers over the years. There was the ninja era, then the xQc reign, and now we’re in the KaiCenat era. The driver behind the changing of the guard is platform diversification. Ninja started multi-streaming, while xQc used different platforms for unique content, both of which remained successful. It’s only a matter of time before KaiCenat tests the water. That’s because being wherever gamers are is the best way to grow, whether you’re using some platforms for discovery and others for community building. Expect 2025 it’s going to be a big year for multistreaming as tools evolve and become more accessible to the wider creator ecosystem.”

Twitch’s own numbers confirm StreamElements’ report, the company said Summary for 2024 that the Just Watching category grew by 9.3% year over year and named Kai Cenat as one of the best streamers of the year.
