Donald Trump completed his spectacular return to power yesterday when he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.
“America’s golden age is just beginning,” Trump said in his post Opening address he spoke at the Capitol shortly after being sworn in. As Trump did eight years ago, he painted an angry portrait of a country on its knees that only he could revive.

In his address, Trump promised to immediately declare a national emergency and send the military to protect the border with Mexico. (More below.) He said he would end state programs that promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
He also said he would rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” and promised to seize the Panama Canal. “We’re taking it back,” he said.

Trump’s first move: A crackdown on immigration
