Trump signs the executive order to expand the cost of review costs
In a A recent enforcement order (EO)The Trump Administration has instructed the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the initiative adapted to the Musk Elon to reduce federal costs, to create a “centralized technological system” at any agency for recording contracts and awards.
As part of the increase in these systems, the agency employees who have approved individual contracts and payments for grants will have to submit a written justification for their approvals. The agency leaders will be able to “pause and quickly review” any payment for which the approval of employees have not submitted a justification according to the EO.
The EC also instructs the agency leaders with the help of the DOG to build systems that “centrally record” approval for federally funded travel for conferences and other “insignificant” goals. Once the systems are available, the agency’s employees will have to submit written excuses for “insignificant” and conference expenses, according to the text of the order.
This move is the worst extension of Doge’s extensive powers to review federal costs. Earlier this month, Dodge sent an email to the federal employees, asking them to outline what they achieved at work last week or to face termination. According to messagesDoge plans to submit the content to AI algorithm to determine whether someone’s work is critical of the mission or not.
Dodge was settled under the EC Signed by President Trump on January 20, renaming US Doge’s digital service and appoints teams of Special Civil Servants to Federal Agencies. Composed of a group of Mostly young employees in the private sector Musk’s business and associates, to a large extent, avoids supervision, leaving open questions about whether the practices of cybersecurity and confidentiality are respected.
