Trump hosts GOP governors at Mar-a-Lago
President-elect Trump A group of Republican governors are hosting dinner at the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday evening.
The meeting comes a week and a half before the former and incoming president is inaugurated and takes over the White House on January 20.
This meeting gives Trump a chance to talk to him GOP governors he will likely play an integral role in pushing the Trump agenda in his second administration, including the mass deportation of immigrants with criminal records.
Governors are among those attending the dinner Ron DeSantis of Florida, Glenn Youngkin of Virginia and Kim Reynolds of Iowa, Fox News confirmed.

DeSantis, a onetime Trump ally who clashed with the former president during a contentious race for the GOP presidential nomination in 2023 and early last year, has patched things up a bit with the former president after the primary season.
DeSantis endorsed Trump and helped raise money for the Republican candidate’s general election campaign.

Reynolds, a conservative two-term governor, drew Trump’s ire by endorsing DeSantis during the presidential election and acting as his primary surrogate in Iowa.
“Excited to meet President @realDonaldTrump tonight at Mar-a-Lago” Reynolds wrote in a social media post. “I’m ready to help enact his plan to make America safe, prosperous and great again!”

Youngkin, who was self-centered before deciding against a run for the White House in 2024, teamed up with Trump several times during the general election campaign.
Politico first reported on Trump’s dinner with the governors.
