Tiktok adds alt -text support for photos

Tiktok introduces support for ALT text for photos for photos to make content more accessible to users with visual and cognitive violations. The company says the creators can now provide descriptive photo text to help users with screen readers to understand the visual content through spoken descriptions.

Tiktok told TechCrunch in an email that creators can add ALT text during the upload process or after posting a post.

With this launch, Tiktok joins many other social networks that support ALT text, including Instagram, Facebook, X (before Twitter), Reddit, Mastodon, Tumblr and others.

ALT Text joins the existing Tiktok accessibility set, which includes features such as automatically generated video content captions and the ability to adjust the size of the text in the application.
