Notepad is perhaps better known as an editor of codes than a text processor, but in recent years Microsoft has added more features to the way of formatting and automatically saving. If you open it in Windows, you will see these features as well as the Copilot button in the upper right corner of the interface.

You can’t use Copilot in Notepad to generate a new text as you can on Copilot on the web or other tools like Chatgpt. Instead, the feature allows you to rewrite and tweak what you have already written – so before clicking the Copilot button, you need to place some text in the notebook and then select it.

With the selection made, click the Copilot button and get a set of options: Make a short and Do longer obviously can be used to change the length of the selected text, and you also received a Change the tone Option if you want to make the text more inspiring, official, casual or humorous. There are and there are Changewhich allows you to place the selected text in a different structure: list, marketing speaking or poetry, for example.

You can also choose Rewriting From this menu for a more comprehensive set of options – and see visualizations of the rewritten text before it is applied. A new pop -up window emerges, giving you more options for changing length, tone and shape. In addition, you get different variations to choose between each case. When you find something you like, click Replace exchange it for the existing text.

During writing, it seems that Notepad gives free all AI rewriting, but as with the creator of the image in Paint, you will need some AI loans With a Microsoft 365 or Copilot Pro subscription to use it widely.

Of course, if you prefer not to use these AI tools and do not want to see the Copilot button that hangs around, you can turn it off completely: click the gear icon (top right) then turn off Hoof switch switch.
