Themes work on scheduled posts

Threads is previewing another major new feature before the end of the year. The app will “soon” begin testing users’ ability to schedule posts ahead of time, according to update by Meta CEO Adam Mosseri.

Mosseri shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature, which shows a simple tool to set the date and time to publish a post in the Threads post editor. Interestingly, Mosseri said users will only be able to schedule new posts, but not replies to existing posts, as the company wants to continue prioritizing “real-time conversations.” While he didn’t give any indication of when the tool might roll out more widely, he did say the feature has been in the works “for months,” so it’s likely Meta plans to roll it out more widely at some point.

The ability to schedule posts will be especially useful for brands, creators and others who use the service to manage professional accounts. While there are already third-party tools that allow post scheduling, many of them require a paid subscription.

The post schedule is the latest sign that Meta is looking to add more features aimed at brands, businesses and other social media professionals to app. The service has also started testing earlier this month. Both of these features can be useful when Meta decides to switch advertising for the platform – a change will come next month.
