Threads is adding a new feature that allows users to be a little more creative in remixing other people’s posts. The app now has a “tagging” tool that lets users scribble on posts they want to reshare, Adam Mosseri shared in .

Tagging options appear in the Cite and Republish menu. But instead of just quoting a post, it launches an editing tool where you can add highlights, arrows, or doodles to a screenshot of the post. Mosseri said the feature is designed “so you can add your creative eye” to posts, but the tools are pretty limited so far. You can only add yellow highlights or red arrows and doodles, though Mosseri said there will be “more coming soon” from Meta.

A Threads spokesperson confirmed that the feature will function similarly to quoted posts, in that the original user will be notified if someone chooses to tag their post. You can also use the “who can reply and quote” setting to disable tagging of your own posts.

The app also makes two other features already previewed official: and . The features are likely to be especially useful for brands, creators, and others who manage a professional presence on the site, which until now has lacked many of the more advanced, business-focused tools that other Meta platforms have. Both can be useful if the Meta takes off to Threads, a move reportedly in the works for early 2025.
