Swimming is one of my favorite things in the whole world. However, cleaning a pool is absolutely difficult. For my money, pool cleaning robots are much more convenient than even standard robots. If you have access to a pool, the upcoming Wybot S3 could ensure you never have to walk around like a fool with a huge net again.

Announced at CES, the Wybot S3 is an improvement over the S2 in almost every way. The company says it’s “the first self-docking, self-emptying, auto-charging pool cleaning robot.” It includes an automated self-draining system that is standard on land-based robots, but new to near-water models. The device transfers debris from its body to a 10-liter overhead base station. This container is large enough to last 30 days without having to be manually emptied.

Another first? The robot is automatically charged by integrated solar panels. In optimal sunlight, it will suck out about 1.5 hours of work per day. If the weather isn’t ideal, the device can also be charged by plugging it into a traditional electrical outlet.

As for the cleaning itself, the device includes a whole bunch of sensors that help it create a 3D map of the entire “underwater environment.” This allows him to plan the most efficient cleaning route and minimizes the chances of blind spots. The company says this is especially important for irregularly shaped pools. It also comes with a camera that detects the largest amounts of debris for improved efficiency and accuracy.

The Wybot S3 can be monitored and controlled in real-time via its own app with a connection that combines Wi-Fi and sonar. The water robovac is available for pre-order now, with deliveries set to begin in the second quarter of the year. All that waterproof technology will come at a cost, though. The robot will be priced between $2,500 and $3,000, depending on the options chosen.

Recently, pool cleaning robots have been popping up everywhere. A company called Aiper in 2023 and Beatbot Aquasense Pro .
