The TCL Ai Mi Companion Bot is a simple baby that follows you everywhere

It’s hard not to like home AI robots when they’re cute babies. CNET’s Bridget Carey checks out TCL’s latest smart home concept, an AI companion robot for kids named Ai Me (“Aime”).

Listen, if we’re going to have robots in our homes, why not make them adorable little robot babies that move around and you can cuddle with them. This is Amy, a concept from TCL, which is a companion robot that is designed for a child in the house to chat with, play with, and is also included in all the smart home stuff you might already have with TCL. So it’s kind of like a smart home control center. Which your kid can play with and be able to document their day through vlogs and just be a little friend and how could you be mad at an AI robot that gets all this information about you when it’s so cute. Here’s the cameras up here and there’s eye screens and it’s just the cute faces, the very cute faces, and it’s also, it’s a little mobile situation with a cart that has a lot of different sensors in it, and that it’s rolling. Your house. I see more little robot companions designed for kids that use AI. We’ve seen things like the Moxie, for example, where you can have conversations back and forth, but here in the TCL concept, that’s also being used as maybe your smart security system. It touches what happens in the car. Knows the temperature in the home. You know, if you’re not home, you might want to drive him around and be an extra set of eyes on the house. What are you taking out of this carriage? His eyes blink, his hands clap, and he uses his cameras to somehow communicate with you. I’ve seen a lot of companion robots roll around your house every year at CES. They’re usually all concepts, but no concepts have had outfits before. Yes, you can dress up Amy. We have a green model, maybe a space model dressed as a penguin. Why not dress up your robots as penguins? We need more of that in this world because it brings joy, right? Anyway, the whole point is that since it’s for kids, they’ll want to play. With it and give it your own little personality. All these sensors and AI combined will learn and grow with you over time. And when you can’t take Amy with you, there’s even a tiny pin that you can detach and take with you. It’s a camera. So Amy kind of knows what you do when Amy can’t be there. That way you have a sort of instant memory sink on the fly. This is the cutest AI robot ever. It’s really light and has sparkling eyes and. Your heart if you think this is strange. Yeah, you’re right, it’s weird, but we’re seeing more robots that are designed to interact with kids with AI intelligence in it, so you can have conversations and it becomes a little best friend, a little friend. Besides being adorable. Oh, his hands are going, his hands are growing. It can control your smart home. So yes, why not make this a smart home? Like a little, little baby, little baby robot. I can’t be mad at a baby robot. 00, he is sleepy. Oh, I’m sorry. Why do I want to do this? What do I want to do with this? Want to get back into your prayer? 00, there you go, my friend. There it is. It just clicks right away. You know, I’ve always wondered where we go with all these robots rolling around the house, and that makes me sick.
