The suspect who attacked the market is in custody in anger over security breaches
A suspect has appeared in court after Friday’s attack on a German Christmas market that killed five people and injured more than 200.
The name of the doctor from Saudi Arabia is Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, who came to Germany in 2006 and was recognized as a refugee in 2016.
It comes as German authorities face a growing backlash after the alleged attacker used an access lane for emergency vehicles to enter the market.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, ministers and regional political leaders were booed by members of the public during the visit on Saturday, some angry at what was criticized as a lapse in security.
