The Smiths Group engineering giant says hackers had access to its systems during Cyberattack
The United Kingdom -based engineering giant Smiths Group confirmed an incident with cybersecurity involving “unauthorized access” to its systems.
The company listed in London, which operates in many sectors, including energy, security, aerospace and defense, said on Tuesday that it was currently “managing” the incident. The company said it isolates the affected systems and activates its plans for business continuity, which implies a destructive incident as a ransom.
The company has not yet revealed the nature of the incident, but said it “works with cybersecurity experts to restore the affected systems and to determine any broader impact on business,” the company said in Submission to the London Stock ExchangeS
Smiths, which employs over 15,000 people in over 50 countries, did not say when the cyberattack happened or whether any data had been exfiltrated by its systems.
Smith spokesman Tom Steiner declined to answer TechCrunch questions. The company said it would provide an update to the incident “When appropriate”.
