The company announced the news during Jump Festa this weekend. Last we left off, the series was in the middle of the Egghead arc, and the shiny new preview shows things to come as the Straw Hats prepare to get Dr. Vegapunk off the titular island…just as the Marines show up to his siege. The second half of the arc will also move One piece to a new time slot: Sunday night at 11:15 PM JST.
The new age isn’t the only change coming – ahead, to the crew great! shipbuilder Frankie will now be voiced by Subaru Kimura (who previously played a young Buggy) in the Japanese dub. Longtime Frankie actor Kazuki Yao has announced his retirement in early December, and to make the transition official, he gave Kimura a pair of Frankie’s underwear on stage. In a statement, One piece creator Eiichiro Oda thanks Yao for playing Frankie “so long! Wherever you go, you will always be our nakama!! And Subaru-san, I look forward to you joining!!”
Oda also commented on this year marking the anime’s 25th anniversary and expressed his “deepest gratitude to our great staff team” and called out the Netflix live-action adaptation. Interestingly, he teased that in 2025. we will see “various projects and announcements”. One piece; The Netflix show just keeps getting better second seasonand so is the streamer anime remake for newcomers. The franchise releases a new film every three years, so could a new film be on the horizon? Meanwhile, the current arc of the Elbaph manga will see “the arrival of a certain person” and more fighting in the seas as “this person begins to shake the world.”
