The new Google Maps AI tool can help congestion and determine the roads near you

Google Maps gets a handful of new paid Tools with AI power supply To help business and cities improve roads, manage traffic congestion and learn trends in local areas.

The technical giant has introduced new Google Maps opportunities designed to change the way companies, cities and agencies such as local traffic authorities make decisions. The message came during the Google Next Next Annual Conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

One of the new tools, called Imagery Insights, uses street views along with Vertex Ai (The Company Ai Experience Builder) to help identify and detect objects such as telephone poles and street signs. For example, if the telecommunications company wants to determine which utility poles require maintenance, they can use information to not only better find the poles, but also learn more about their conditions practically.

Yael Maguire, Google Maps General Manager on Google Maps, told CNET that the tool would allow companies to maintain these pieces of infrastructure without sending people to actual sites to the cities.

“AI is absolutely important for this to happen because we cannot rely on people, such as identifying all the poles in Google Street View images or … all the stopping signs in a particular city or holes on the pot or broken sidewalks,” Maguire said.

He said the tools were intended to “enrich the work that people are already doing.”

Efforts are coming as companies like Google continue to experiment with the addition of AI forms to their existing products, displacing how people handle daily tasks and make sense of more complicated data.

Another new tool called Place Insights seeks to help business identify trends in an area or determine where to expand. Google will provide personalized and summarized information about places in a wide area based on ratings, storage hours, parking, accessibility of wheelchairs and other information. He could also provide location suggestions if a retailer wants to open a new store near a bunch of expensive restaurants in an area without much retail presence.

“We already know that someone’s job is to find out where the next store should be. We are trying to improve the quality of this decision,” Maguire said. “This is an opportunity to become more comprehensive (information); not to change the workforce.”

Google has also announced what the Insights Management Insights calls to provide a more thorough analysis of traffic data and to help improve real-time historical and traffic data. Motion organs can use information to identify areas at high risk for accidents and add speed irregularities or braking signs. With this information, authorities could also build better forecast models to reduce traffic congestion before it happened.

Updates come at a time when both consumers and businesses are walking around the AI ​​confidence. Maguire noted that each new tool includes transparency features designed to show users how much confidence they can put in its performance.

“We wanted to get to a certain performance threshold before we provide it and get feedback from (users) to make sure that it meets their needs and solve business goals,” he said. “So far, early feedback was positive.”

The tools will be introduced into business in the coming months or “even neighborhoods,” he said. However, some are currently available in Preview.
