Black Ops 6 Zombies players are off to a good start to the year as a developer Treyarch revealed on Wednesday that a new zombie map, The Tomb, will launch at the start of the game’s second season on Tuesday, January 28.

We already knew a new map was going to be revealed for 115 Day, Call of Duty’s annual zombie celebration, but no one expected such an early release date. Black Ops 6 is on track to release four zombie maps in four months, an unprecedented release schedule for the shooter franchise.

In addition to information about the new map, Treyarch pulled back the curtains on how well its Zombie Directed Mode works and shared details about the quality of life improvements that will be included at the start of Season 2.

Here’s everything we know so far about the next content drop on January 28th.

What we know about the next zombie map in Black Ops 6

Black Ops 6 players got their first look at some photos from the catacombs of The Tomb today.

Following the events of Citadelle des Morts, The Tomb will have Weaver, Maya, Carver and Gray delving into the heart of an ancient catacomb to rediscover a powerful artifact capable of helping them deal with the undead threat.

The new map is created from scratch for zombies. Does not reuse any locations from the Campaign or Warzone modes.

The Tomb will be smaller than maps like Terminus and Citadelle des Morts, forcing engagements into tighter play areas. Treyarch cited Liberty Falls as a key contributor to the new map’s design philosophy, explaining that Black Ops 6’s starting map is the most replayable zombie experience in years.

Fan-favorite weapons will return, including an old Black Ops SMG and a “reimagined Wonder Weapon inspired by (Treyarch’s) past.” While there’s no word yet on what those weapons will be, the Wunderwaffe DG-2 lightning gun featured prominently in Liberty Falls intro cutscene and has yet to appear on a Black Ops 6 zombies map.

In addition to the main easter egg, The Tomb will have a strong focus on side easter eggs – such as the Liberty Falls bowling alley minigame and the bank vault. More information about the new map will be revealed on the Season 2 blog next week.

Black Ops 6 Season 2 Quality of Life Improvements Revealed

It looks like the start of Season 2 will largely focus on improving the zombie experience in Black Ops 6, but that doesn’t mean the multiplayer mode will be left high. There are four key changes being made to players’ quality of life at the start of Season 2.

  • Multiplayer and Zombies Challenge Tracks: Players will now be able to separately track multiplayer and zombie challenges. In addition, players can now pin 10 challenges for each mode at any time – if there are no manually pinned challenges, Black Ops 6 will show players the challenges that are closest to completion.
  • Separate HUDs for Multiplayer and Zombies modes: Players who want to use different heads-up display layouts for the different modes will now be able to do so without toggling each option when switching between multiplayer and zombies.
  • Cooperative Pause: If everyone in the lobby is grouped into one co-op party, the zombie mode pause will function as in a solo session. Most importantly, this feature will not work if you are not in a party with every player in your co-op game.
  • Restore AFK kick loadout: If you get kicked out of an AFKing zombie game for too long, you can now rejoin the lobby and recover your weapons, gear, streaks, and perks.

Black Ops 6 zombies Directed Mode works as planned

Directed Mode makes major Easter Eggs much easier, giving players plenty of time to build up their load of Pack-a-Punched weapons, perks, armor and more.

The latest insight we got about 115 Day focuses on the new Zombies mode introduced in Black Ops 6: Directed Mode.

Treyarch created this mode to increase community participation in the main easter eggs of the zombie maps – the round caps and guided objectives make the challenges much easier for new and casual players to complete.

Now the developer has revealed that Directed Mode works as intended. While 3.38% of Call of Duty Zombies players completed the main map easter egg prior to the introduction of Guided Mode, this number doubled with 8.23% of players completing the main Black Ops 6 map easter eggs.

Treyarch intends to keep looking for ways to make its zombie storyline more accessible to all players, but is optimistic about the results so far.

Maybe more players will be able to beat Black Ops 6 zombie maps by 115 day in 2026.
