The Legends trailer may tell us about the end of Cobra Kai
We’ve yet to get off the mat one last time with “Cobra Kai,” and we’ve already had our first look at the upcoming expansion of the “Karate Kid” universe with The Karate Kid: Legends trailer.. The new film, set for release in 2025, will feature original The Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Jackie Chan’s Mr. Khan from the 2010 film for the first time. Together, they will repeat some words of wisdom to new martial arts prodigy Li Fong (newcomer Ben Wang). But with the new karate boy, does anything we’ve seen so far hint at the long-awaited Cobra Kai finale and the frayed relationship Danny had with his dim-witted nemesis Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka)?
While it’s no surprise that the original Karate Kid would appear in Legends, it at least confirms that he made it out of Cobra Kai alive. A year ago, it might have been a simple matter, if not for that Kwon’s shocking death in Cobra Kai Season 6 Episode 2 suggesting that between now and its end, everyone is at risk of being killed. But maybe we shouldn’t be focusing on who’s going from a favorite show to an upcoming movie when it could be the other way around.
Could Jackie Chan appear in the Cobra Kai season finale?
What we know about “The Karate Kid: Legends” is that former friends of Mr. Myagi (Pat Morita), Han and LaRusso are working together, but could this alliance begin with the former visiting the latter’s “Cobra Kai” at the end ?” Like Nick Fury from the Karate Kid universe, there’s a chance Jackie Chan’s character, who hasn’t been seen in 14 years, will drop by LaRusso’s house to ask for a favor (even if Macchio himself doubted that the cameo would work). Maybe even the next karate kid (no, not Hilary Swank) could ask for tips directly, too. For “Cobra Kai” fans who have been reluctant about the next chapter, this will definitely be enough of a tease to get them excited and smoothly shift the focus away from the people of All Valley and their love of karate.
Again, there’s no confirmation in the preview as to how things ended for LaRusso and his class. In the end, they might not leave Sekai Taikai victorious, which could prompt Danny to train another karateka with the same desire to be the best. For now, we’ll have to wait and see, with “Cobra Kai” coming to Netflix one last time on February 13th, and “The Karate Kid: Legends” hitting theaters on May 30th.
