The Last of Us Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay will return for new post-apocalyptic adventures in HBO’s upcoming second season The last of us.
Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, the series follows Joel (Pascal), a grizzled survivor tasked with transporting Ellie (Ramsey) across the country 20 years after the zombie-like cordyceps fungus has wiped out much of civilization. As they continue their journey, the unlikely duo form a surrogate father-daughter bond.
After the premiere of the series in January 2023, the series is co-created Craig Mazin and game writer and creative director, Neil Druckman — was renewed for Season 2 after only two of the season’s nine episodes aired.
The second season is expected to follow the plot of the 2020 video game sequel, The last of us part 2which picks up a few years after the original story. ​​​​​​​While the series has not been picked up for a third installment, Mazin previously teased that the series’ team may need more than one season to properly portray Part IIevents.
“It will take us more than a season to tell the amount of story left. But I definitely don’t see it as something that goes on and on,” he said Collider in January 2023. “We have no such ambitions. Our goal is to tell a story that exists, as best we can, in a different environment.”
