The game for The Planet Alliance focuses on nature as a topic for Green Game Jam

He revealed the names of the 57 studios that join, which include Timi Studio Group, Rovio, Supercell and Ubisoft. The studios are from 27 countries and they will work to integrate the topic of nature into their titles, according to the Environment Organization Program (UNEP).

This is the largest number of JAM games as it started in 2019. This year, the studios will work both to raise funds for conservation causes and for a new campaign approach that will engage players to share why nature is relevant to them in an attempt to show support for its protection. These messages will then be shared with politicians, urging to protect 30% of the planet by 2030 and to deal with the fact that one million of the estimated eight million species on the planet collide.

Millions of dollars have been raised through Green Game Jam, and millions of trees are planted, said Sam Barat, head of youth, education and advocacy at UNEP, in an interview with Gamesbeat.

“It has a noticeable impact on hundreds of millions of players, engaged every year, there is a fiscal and environmental indicator, which is also important,” he said. “There is also a cultural indicator that is much more difficult to measure. It’s just that the people in the industry think about what the possibility is, the potential for the impact of the game. And so I think the game industry is magic because it can do things that no other entertainment carrier can, and that’s what the Green Game is scratched.”

The full report will be published later in April and will summarize how 58,000 players respond to participation in environmental content in the games they regularly play and love.

The 59 JAM studios have already begun to participate in seminars and conversations with experts before the Live launch date on June 5, World Environment Day. In addition to the goal of the campaign, the Green Game Game 2025 will also give its community players a chance to finance a cause related to nature or studios to join Edge, Dots.eco and/or Planet Play.

Green Game Jam is one of the game for annual projects on the planet. This is a challenge for live games and existing audiences to build “green assets” that engage their players on certain environmental topics. Green activations are new features implemented either in the game or through the Metagame space, such as social channels or personal events. Large ambitions

“We are really pleased with the quality and quantity of participants for this edition,” Barat said. “We make a different topic every year just to keep everyone on our toes, and this year the topic is nature. I think it will be truly captivating.”

He added: “It’s all about what you can do for nature. And I think games have always used the beauty of biodiversity in the backdrop of games, but nature is one of those things that are taken for granted until it goes away. The aspiration this year is to make people really think,”

As for this year’s participants, Barat said that there is a real mix of titles and they have quite nice ideas.

“The honor of the kings is the one you need to watch. They have creative ideas that you have to live in the coming days, but there are very good, funny titles like Crossy Roads,” Barat said.

He said that participants grow every year and this is useful for maintaining all the better informed about the environment.

“People do not need to be said that there is a problem. They need to know what to do about it,” Barat said. “This year is to be a much proposal for the actions that players will take. What will make a meaningful difference?” he said. “This year we are doing two things. One is to build a community of engaged players that we have not done before. We will give people more chances to give with different money raising opportunities.”

I asked if Trump’s administration had influenced the congestion of the game and the environmental movement in some way.

“I would say that the context may have changed, but science was not and the need is not so,” Barat said. “As for nature, I do not think that we have noticed no drop out of interest, which is positive. And if something else, I think nature attracts everyone from everywhere, which is really positive.”

Many activations will live in the next days for Environment Day on April 1 and after.

As for the time dedicated to them, some studios have entered all, hired scientists to help them and have done a lot of research in advance, Barat said.

“People have thrown a considerable amount of human resources into it, but in the other end, people have not had the time or the ability to make more ambitious activations we have seen from others,” he said.

He said most studios have been building their ability to Green Game Jam in a few years and become more ambitious.
