The Elgato Study Deck is expanding beyond the company’s hardware

Thehe Elgato Flow deck is expanding into a hardware-agnostic platform. On Monday, the company introduced a software version of the programmable device for quick access. TAPs are also a module for integration into third -party products and Sam, Ethernet Dock projects and an updated MK.2 deck with scissors.

There is a new version of the popular MK.2. The only difference is that this version displays the membrane keys in favor of the scissors. Scissor switches (found on many laptops, such as Modern MacBooks) have a shorter travel distance and a sharper activation of machines sensations of (still available) hereditary MK.2.

The scissors of the MK.2 stream costs $ 150.

Virtual Stream Deck (VSD) is a software colleague only for classic devices. Like hardware versions, VSD includes a well -known network of programmable quick access buttons. Anything you would configure for a device as Stream DECK MK.2 Or XL, you can also do for VSD. Put the interface anywhere on your desktop, secure it for quick access, or trigger it by clicking the mouse or hot key.

In order to avoid canniblyizing its hardware business, Elgato restricts VSD for the owners of its devices. Initially, it will only be accessible to people who have a stream deck hardware or choose Corsair peripherals (Xneon Edge and Scimitar elite we mouse). The company says VSD will soon be deployed to owners of additional devices.

VSD has one disappointing requirement. It only works when one of these compatible accessories is connected to your computer. Unfortunately, this means that you cannot use it as a replacement of the virtual flow, reflecting your shortcuts while you and your laptop are in motion. This seems like a missed opportunity.

Instead, it is more recently an addition to the transmission of deck hardware while connected – a way of getting more shortcuts than accessories. This is also a method for owners of Corsair accessories to obtain the functionality of the flow deck without buying one.

Nevertheless, Virtual Stream DECK launches with Stream DECK 7.0 beta software.

The flow deck modules can be built into a hardware that is not made by Elgato. So, lovers, starters and manufacturers can include OLED shortcut buttons in Sam’s projects or products. The only difference is their lightest nature. Otherwise, they function the same as the products of Legacy Stream.

The flow deck modules have an aluminum chassis, which is “ready to be placed directly in a personalized installation, machine or product”. They are available in six-, 15- and 32-key variants.

The modules are starting to ship today. You will pay $ 50 for six key version, $ 130 for a 15-key one and $ 200 for the 32 keys variant. (If you provide them for an organization, Elgato offers volume discounts.)

Elgato’s network dock gives the streams of their own Ethernet connections. This pursues the shortcuts from the desktop, which allows “personalized installations, remote stations and more”.

The network dock maintains both power over Ethernet (POE) and non-poe networks. You can set up its IP configuration to the device.

The dock costs $ 80 and delivered in August.
