The holiday season often turns into serious arguments, and we’re not talking about the ones your weird uncle starts after he’s had an extra pint. No, this is the debate to end all debates: whether or not this or that classic action movie is a Christmas movie. For now though, the haters just have to admit it Strong to die it’s a holiday classic, and if you doubt that indisputable fact, free streaming on Tubi will surely change your mind.

Strong to die is a true cinematic masterpiece, and it earned its reputation long before the advent of streaming. The plot is wonderfully simplistic: a New York detective heads to Los Angeles to rekindle the spark with his estranged wife, which leads him to Nakatomi Tower, where she’s having a Christmas party with her colleagues. However, when mysterious bad guys take over the tower, the ex-detective finds there’s no time for love as he becomes a one-man army fighting a legion of shivering terrorists.

When you look Strong to die during the broadcast, you’ll see some very familiar faces, including the late, great Alan Rickman as terrorist leader Hans Gruber. And for movie buffs of a certain age, it’s always a lot of fun to see Reginald VelJohnson, Family matters a patriarch who just can’t get away from playing the iconic screen cops. But no one shines in this film more than Bruce Willis: his casting was a studio risk that paid off by replacing the TV actor best known for the hit series Moonlight into one of the most famous movie stars in the world.

If you hesitate to put Strong to die for tonight streaming celebrations, you’re probably asking what makes this movie so great. The short answer is that it combines killer action with very clever storytelling, and it’s nice to see our protagonist and villain equally capable of surprising each other (not to mention the audience). The film is full of quotable dialogue, but it never becomes a parody of itself, and that’s refreshing in the post-Avengers (or maybe we should say post “well, what just happened!”) world.

We are not the only ones who love Strong to dieOr: If you’re still on the fence about streaming it on Tubi, you should know that the movie has an extremely impressive 94 percent critical score on Rotten tomatoes. In addition, this Bruce Willis classic also received an audience score of 94 percent, indicating that it was a hit with just about everyone. This popularity helped the film, which was made for $25–35 million, gross around $140 million at the box office, spawning a series of sequels.

To put it bluntly, these sequels have had diminishing returns, and your enjoyment of the later entries will mostly come down to how much you enjoy seeing Willis perform his charismatic action routine. But the first Strong to die is a famous classic for a reason, and free streaming on Tubi will always be a better alternative than drinking the latest made-for-stream from Netflix. As an added bonus, the holiday setting of this movie gives you a great excuse to put it on while you’re wrapping presents or just leaving milk and cookies for Santa.

Will you find it? Strong to die does it live up to the post-broadcast hype, or will you find its twisty storyline a bit dated? You won’t know until you check it out on Tubi. Streaming on this platform is completely free, and that’s the kind of price that will always have us channeling our inner Willis while yelling, “Yuppie ki-yay.”
