Casetify is best known for making durable yet stylish phone cases, but they also have a few eco-friendly options. The latest is his A line of compostable phone caseswhich is made with a 100 percent compostable plant-based material called “Ecotify.” It is basically a mixture of bamboo, biopolymers and starch.

The regular Compostable line has a drop protection of about four feet, while the Ultra Compostable line, with its additional corner bumpers, has a drop protection of about 6.6 feet. My recommendation is to go with the more durable Ultra Compostable option, even if it costs a bit more.

Unfortunately, Casetify’s Compostable line is only available for the iPhone, but they make other types of sustainable cases for both iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones—they just aren’t compostable. Instead, they are made from 65 percent recycled materials. Casetify also offers the option to return your old case, which will then be reused or updated to create a new one, thereby reducing plastic waste.

The biggest advantage of Casetify cases is that they are highly customizable. Not only can you choose your favorite bumper colors and designs (Casetify regularly partners with brands and illustrators to come up with unique styles), but you can actually add engraving to them. You can also choose to add even more protection with thicker bumpers (Casetify says “Bounce Case” offers 13-foot drop protection).
