The best desktop computer for 2025: The best photos for MACS and PCS
Price
You can find a good computer tower of brands such as Acer, ASUS, DELL or HP for between $ 500 and $ 600, which will prove to be useful for years for general use. The specifications we would offer for the main machine on Windows 11:
- Intel Core i5 (13- or 14th gene) or AMD Ryzen 5 (6000, 7000 or 8000 Series)
- Integrated Default Graphics (such as Intel UHD or Iris or Baseline AMD Radeon)
- 16GB RAM or more
- 512GB or more nvme SSD Drive
- Four or more USB 3.1 or 3.2 ports with USB-C and USB-A formats (at least one or two in front)
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connection
- At least one PCI-E (x16) expansion slot (for adding video card)
Do you want to do some computer games or spend time editing photos or videos? You will want to level the configuration with more RAM and better graphic options. Expect the price points to be between $ 800 and $ 1,200 (or even higher) if you go for a more bloody video card.
- NVIDIA RTX or AMD Radeon RX graphics card (GPU)
- 16GB RAM or more
- 450th (or more) power supply
Operating system
Apple’s Microsoft Windows and Macos do the same thing, but they do them differently. Unless there is an OS specific application you need, go with what you feel most comfortable to use. Most desktops work on Microsoft Windows, while IMAC, Mac Mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro Desktops have MacOS on Apple. There is also an offer for strange Chromebox based on Google’s Chromeos. Chromebox is easier to use and usually cheaper than Windows PC or MAC, but cannot start Windows or Mac software.
Processor
The processor, also known as CPU, is the brain of the desktop. Intel and AMD are the main manufacturers of Windows desktop processors. Both offer a shocking selection of processors. You can target Intel’s or Amd’s Explanation sites so you get the desired performance. The current Intel composition is the 13th generation of major chips, with the processors of the 14th bench being expected in the beginning of 2024. The current AMD desktop processor is its Ryzen 7000 series. Generally, the faster the processor speed and the more nucleus the better will be.
Apple makes its own MACS chips, which makes things a little more clear. IMAC and MAC MINI have the most latest M4 processor on Apple. Mac Studio has M2 Max or M2 Ultra, while Mac Pro is based on the M2 Ultra. Again, in general, the more nuclei there is, the better performance.
Graphics
The GPU (GPU) processes all screen driving work and generating what is shown, as well as speeding up many graphic (and increasingly associated with AI) operations. For Macs, the M’s M series processors integrate GPU. There are two types of graphic processors for Windows desktops: integrated (IGPU) or discreet (DGPU). As the names suggest, IGPU is part of the processor package, while DGPU is a separate chip with special memory (VRAM), with which it communicates directly, which makes it faster than sharing memory with the processor.
As IGPU divides space, memory and power with the processor, it is limited by the boundaries of them. It allows smaller desktops like a computer with everything in one or SFF, but does not perform almost as well as DGPU. In fact, there are some games and creative software that will not be implemented unless they find DGPU or enough VRAM. Most performance software, video streaming, network surfing and other non -specialized applications will work well on IGPU.
For the needs of the graphics, hungry for power, such as editing video, games and streaming, design, etc., you will need DGPU. Only two real companies make them: NVIDIA and AMD, although Intel offers some XE-based brand (or older UHD graphic brand) IGPU technology in its processors.
Memory
For memory, we strongly recommend a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. RAM is where the operating system stores all applications data currently and can be filled quickly. Then it begins to exchange between RAM and SSD, which is more slow. Some lower-end models deliver only 8GB, which in connection with a slower disk can lead to a disappointing slow experience of Windows.
PCS Tower usually has free interior slots to add more RAM sticks, but still SFF PC may not. Even if they do, these DIMM slots can be difficult to access.
Storage
You can still find a cheaper hard drive on a budget desktop and larger hard drives in games for games, but faster hard drives (SSDs) have everyone, but they replace hard drives. They can make a big difference in productivity. Not all SSDs are equally fast, and the cheaper desktops usually have more slow devices. If your computer has only 8 GB RAM, it can transfer to this device and the system can slow down quickly while working.
Get what you can afford, but we recommend a minimum of 512GB for desktop for most users. For storage of large media or games libraries, we offer 1TB or more. If you need to go with a fewer device, you can usually add a second internal device to the Tower PC. For comprehensive and SFF PCS external device or cloud storage, it is usually the easier choice to strengthen a small internal drive.
Display
All-in-One integrates the display with the components of the computer, not placed in a tower or a small factor, but behind the display or at the base. The compromise on this saving space, rationalized design is fewer options for upgrades. For the display you will want a large screen with good resolution. The sweet spots we would offer are:
- 24 inches at 1,920×1,080 pixels (also known as 2K or 1080p)
- 27 inches at 2.560×1,440 pixels (also known as 1440p)
- 32 inches at 3,840×2,160 pixels (also known as 4K)
