A A teenager in Texas is facing criminal charges for allegedly killing a rival show goat a few months ago.

Aubrey Vanlandingham, 17, who competes in livestock shows with her own goat, admitted to poisoning her young competitor’s goat, Willie, according to an arrest warrant. This was reported by CBS Austin.

Vanlandingham is accused of using a shotgun to force-feed Willy a toxic pesticide in a barn at Vista Ridge High School on Oct. 23, killing the 6-month-old goat. Security footage allegedly showed the goat trying to escape the encounter.

The teenager allegedly left Willy, returned to check on him on two separate occasions within two hours, and called the rival’s mother to say the goat was unwell.

CBS Austin reported that Willy died in his owner’s arms within 24 hours after experiencing seizures and difficulty breathing.

Vanlandingham allegedly admitted to killing his rival’s goat because he thought the 15-year-old girl was a “cheater”. He was tried to kill Willy before, but failed.

Willy’s cause of death was determined to be organophosphate intoxication from phosmet, a pesticide used to control external parasites in cattle.

The 15-year-old’s mother told the DailyMail that Vanlandingham was unrepentant.

“It’s all weird. We want justice done, we don’t want a slap on the wrist. We want to make sure he gets punished. We don’t feel like he thinks he’s going to be punished at this point and he needs to own up to what he’s done,” he said, adding that they want him to go to jail and get mental help. he said.

A police investigation According to CBS Austin, Vanlandingham’s phone showed her searching for information about lethal doses of animal bleach and poisoning methods. He also searched for “how to clear search history”.

The 15-year-old’s mother determined that Vanlandingham’s alleged crime was motivated by jealousy, not deception.

“You can’t even cheat when it comes to showing goats,” he told the DailyMail. “It doesn’t make any sense, so the jealousy is really spot on.”

Vanlandingham was charged cruelty to cattle, This is a felony punishable by up to two years in prison in Texas. He was arrested Nov. 22 and released on $5,000 bail that day, jail records show.

His trial is set for January 15.
