Texas QB Quinn Ewers and Maddie Barnes Relationship Timeline
University of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and his girlfriend Maddie Barneshave already experienced one of the toughest tests in a relationship: getting into rival colleges.
Barnes, 21, is currently a student at the University of Oklahoma, and her boyfriend, Ewers, 21, is one of the most recognizable faces in Texas college football.
Despite the distance and deep rivalry between the two schools, Barnes and Ewers managed to make it work after going public with their relationship in February 2023.
Both juniors at their respective universities, Barnes and Ewers have big decisions ahead of them, including whether Ewers will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, or potentially transfer to another school with the quarterback phenom. Arch Manning biding his time in Texas.

February 2023
Barnes posted the first photo of the pair via Instagram during a trip to see Ewers in Austin, Texas.
“It’s not too bad here😊😊,” Barnes wrote three photos.
With Ewers donning a cowboy hat and Barnes rocking white cowboy boots, the pair spent time with Ewers’ teammate Gunnar Helm.
May 2023
Ewers posted a series of photos, including one with Barnes by the ocean in Delray Beach, Florida.
“That’s how we do it,” Ewers signed the pictures.
Barnes also posted a few snaps from the trip, including one of the pair cozying up in front of a hotel mirror.
September 2023
Barnes was on hand for the Texas Longhorns’ season opener against Rice University.
She posted a picture hugging Ewers as he made his way into the stadium for the game.
March 2024
The couple took another sunny holiday together, this time to the Turks and Caicos.
Barnes shared carousel of photos from a trip in which one of her sat on Ewers’ shoulders while the pair posed on the beach.

Ewers and Barnes took the Big Apple by force.

Barnes made another trip to Austin to see Ewers.
“Ath for the weekend🧡,” she captioned the photo via Instagram a couple poses with two friends.
October 2024
During the height of football season, Barnes visited Ewers for practice.
“Have a great weekend!!👏🏼👏🏼,” Barnes wrote. a series of photographsincluding one from a Texas practice.
The photos were released on Oct. 13, the day after Ewers and the Longhorns beat Barnes’ Oklahoma Sooners 34-3 in a game known as the Red River Rivalry.
In another photo, a smiling Barnes was seen posing with Ewers outside the Cotton Bowl in Dallas after the big win.
