Ten people were killed and 30 others were injured after a man drove his car into a large crowd in the heart of Louisiana’s largest city, New Orleans, local authorities said Wednesday.
The attack, which occurred early on New Year’s Day, was described in a statement by local authorities as a “mass casualty incident” at Canal and Bourbon Street in the center of the city’s tourist district.
Bourbon Street is one of the main streets in the city’s historic French Quarter, full of bars, restaurants and music venues that attract both domestic and international visitors.
