Gypsy not only opened up about her traumatic past, but also revealed that she had been sedated “more than 100 times”. Fortunately, she shared that she experienced no noticeable side effects or long-term effects. “When I was an anesthetized child, I didn’t ask questions,” she explained to Lowry. “So all these side effects and all the dangers were told to my mom, not to me,” because she was a minor.

In her memoir, which is now available, Gypsy reveals that her mother knew about her addiction and drug abuse but chose not to intervene. Instead, her mother allowed it to continue because it helped keep Gypsy close and under her control.
