Teddy Mellencamp wonders if divorce from Edwin Arroyo was a ‘mistake’

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddy Mellencamp was not always firm in her decision to divorce Edwin Arroyove.

“We went to couples therapy and it announced me as an introvert, and it was shocking news to everyone, even though I’ve been saying it my whole life,” Mellencamp, 43, said on the Thursday, Jan. 16, episode of her Diamonds in the Rough podcast. “I’m an introvert by nature, so I like my alone time (and) I need to recharge.”

Although she found solace in moments of silence, she wasn’t ready for the greater loneliness of divorce. (Mellencamp broke up with Arroyove, 47, in the fall of 2024 filed for divorce that November.)

“There are moments that I feel right now when I feel really alone, and I don’t know if these feelings of loneliness mean that I’ve made a mistake or if it’s just something I have to get used to and this is a new change in my life, – asked Mellencamp, trying to hold back tears. “Oh my god, I’m so embarrassed I’m starting to get emotional, but it’s such a confusing part of it all.”

Teddy Mellencamp has shared exactly what she needs to know about her divorce from Edwin Arroyo, and she doesn’t plan on revealing more than that. Mellencamp, 43, and her former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star Erica Jane recently launched their podcast, Diamonds in the Rough, recapping much of the first episode (…)

She continued, “Do you have to pass or do you have to give it (time)?”

Mellencamp Podcast Co-Host, Erica Jane — whose personal life hit the headlines in 2020 following her breakup with a now-disbarred lawyer Thomas Girardi – shared support.

“She’s in the thick of things right now and it’s very fresh and very hard,” Jane, 53, said on Thursday’s episode. “I feel for her because it’s not that easy, but to pull yourself together and even come on the podcast today and talk about it. You know, Teddy, you need to take a break. If you hadn’t said you felt lonely, I would have worried you were lonely.’

Mellencamp feels like she’s in “constant pain” that she “tries to fake” every day.

“I’ve talked about it in therapy, but it’s almost like I’m drawn to another chaotic situation,” Mellencamp explained. “I don’t want to talk too much about my parents or anything like that, but obviously my dad (John Mellencamp) was a rock star. He met some girl at the Rainbow Room and it was my mom and they had kids (while) he was already married. Like, everything was like a show.”

Teddy continued, “I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life, and my only goal was … to give my kids stability. I don’t know if it’s the loneliness or the fear, (but) I also don’t feel like I have enough of it all.”

Teddy and Arroyove share daughters 12-year-old Slate and 4-year-old Dove, as well as 10-year-old son Cruz. (Arroyo is also the father of a 15-year-old daughter, Isabella, from a previous relationship.)
