Ted Danson Receives Carol Burnett Award Ahead of 2025 Golden Globes

The 77-year-old actor accepted the award ahead of a live show during the Golden Globes Golden Gala on Friday (January 3) at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The honorary award was presented by his wife, Mary Steenbergen.
“For him, all of you who attend the Golden Globes should know that receiving the Carol Burnett Award is like stepping into creative heaven,” the 71-year-old actress said of Denson as she introduced him. In his acceptance speech, Denson joked that while he usually has a “confused relationship” when it comes to receiving awards, he felt quite the opposite with this particular award.

Burnett, for her part, shouted “I love you” to Denson from the audience.
The Carol Burnett Award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to television on or off screen. Honorees are selected based on their work performance and the lasting impact of television career achievements on the industry and viewers.
Since the award’s inception in 2019, Denson is the fifth recipient, following in the footsteps of Burnett, 91. Ellen DeGeneres, Norman Lear and Ryan Murphy.
In December 2024, the Golden Globes named Denson as this year’s winner.

Denson is a three-time Golden Globe winner and has previously won awards for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, an Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television.
