Taylor Swift’s ex Joe Olwyn ended their romance

Olwyn and Swift started dating in 2016 but broke up in 2023. After the separation, the former lovebirds moved on to a new relationship.

However, people are still discussing their romance, which Alvin seems to be fed up with and wants to end.

Alvin talked to Guardian in an interview published on Sunday, and talked about his relationship with Swift and its aftermath.

The English actor hasn’t always liked being in the spotlight, but his relationship with his beloved American singer meant he couldn’t always hide.

When asked if he was worried that dating Swift would overshadow his career, Olwyn said: “I’ve been trying to just focus on controlling what I can control. And from the very beginning I tried to focus on the things that are important to me: friends, family, work, of course.”

Alvin added: “So the buzz is out of the way, I think I did what a lot of people do when they’re in the public eye, which is try to ignore it. If you don’t and if you let everything else and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, then you are living from the outside in.

During the interview, Olvin was asked if he wanted to move on from the chatter surrounding his and Swift’s romance.

However, he claimed that he had moved on and that was left for others to do.

Olwyn explained, “It’s something other people have to do. We are talking about something that happened in my life a long time ago.”

He concluded: “So it’s for other people. That’s how I feel.”

Olwyn likes his private life, but has previously opened up about his relationship with Swift during an interview with Sunday Times style in June 2024.

At the time, the “Billy Lynn’s Long Walk at Intermission” star described his relationship with Swift as “long, loving” and “totally committed.”

Olwyn explained: “I hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. It is difficult to navigate.”

The 33-year-old actor added: “What’s unusual and abnormal about this situation is that a week later it’s suddenly public and the outside world can weigh in.”

Alvin also shared that he and the “Blank Space” singer have decided to keep the details of their relationship out of the public eye, and he sees no reason to change it, despite rumors that Swift’s songs “So Long, London” and “loml” were about him.

He said: “I’m sure you can understand, given the level of noise and scrutiny I’ve had in my past relationships, why I wouldn’t want to just open the door to that sort of thing right now.”

According to the insider, the former lovers have faced difficulties before, but found a way to fix them. So their friends thought they would get back together after some time.

Swift, who was dating Matt Healy shortly after her split from Alvin, she is in a blossoming relationship with NFL and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two began dating in the summer of 2023 and have made several public appearances together, with Swift being a notable feature at Kelce’s home games.

Meanwhile, the source said PEOPLE in April 2024 said Olwyn was “doing well” and “focused on work”, before adding that the actor was “dating and happy”.

The insider added: “He’s a great guy and doesn’t like drama in any way.”

According to the source, Alvin was in love with Swift, but their relationship “just didn’t work out.”
