“Supersanctuary” immigration policies threaten lives and help violent criminals

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger once said that “the first duty and highest obligation of government is public safety.” He was right.
Less than a decade later, progressive Democrats in Sacramento were able to create California’s now-infamous “holy state“The law casts aside public safety for what it sees as a more just and important reason; here, ensuring that illegal immigrants do not face deportation when they commit crimes.
Instead of subtracting illegal immigrant criminals by releasing them from our communities to federal agents for deportation, law enforcement agencies across the state have been forced to release them onto our streets, where they often reoffend, sometimes with disastrous results.
ICE DEPORTATIONS BRING BIDEN ADMINISTRATION CLOSER TO TRUMP ERA IN FY 2024
In 2021, federal immigration officials tried to take away an illegal immigrant who had already been deported when he was arrested for domestic violence after beating the mother of his three-year-old child. Instead, thanks to these “sacred” policies, he was released the next day. He continued to shoot her in front of her daughter.
Earlier this year, I visited our southern border and spoke with immigration officials who warned of this threat. illegal immigrant criminals to pose They have expressed serious concerns about the growing number of young people crossing the border, fearing that some may have unknown criminal histories in their homelands. But even as these illegal immigrants continue to commit crimes in San Diego, our law enforcement agencies are overwhelmed by these reckless “immigrant” policies.
These rules have hurt Californians and will continue to do so. But now, in their infinite wisdom, the Democratic-majority San Diego County Board of Supervisors has decided to take things a step further.
Current law allows local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration officials in extreme cases like crime and gang violence, but the board thought even that was too harsh on those criminals. Last week, they voted to make San Diego County a “super sanctuary” in which local law enforcement agencies cannot cooperate with the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency under any circumstances without a federal judge’s order.
In a race for the title of most hated Trump, the board’s three Democrats voted to ensure that illegal immigrants would not be deported, even if they were convicted of murder, rape, child abuse or drug trafficking. This means that when a witness disappears or decides not to testify, as often happens, illegal immigrants who kill San Diegans will be freed to kill again in our communities, even if ICE requests their deportation.
They claim it’s a stance against Trump policies that could allow more criminal illegal immigrants to be deported, but in reality it’s much, much more of a step forward. This means giving full support and accommodation to hardened, violent criminals who are in our country illegally and commit heinous and violent crimes in our communities.
And for what purpose? To poke and antagonize the incoming president for progressive brownie points? Looking to stand up to a perceived boogeyman in our communities by protecting and surrounding yourself with real-life ones?
This is mean. As elected officials, our job is to protect the people we represent. The families and communities that choose us. Putting their interests and safety first. It’s not him.

There is some hope now that San Diego County Sheriff Kelly Martinez has announced that she will not comply with the new order.”super reserve,” referring to his position as an independently elected official whose policies are not determined by the County Council. I commend him for rejecting this partisan virtue signaling and prioritizing public safety.
In the meantime, I and other San Diego Republican elected officials are working to find solutions to combat board idiocy at the state level.

We have to go back a period elected leaders serving the best interests of their constituents rather than engaging in political battles for headlines. At a time when politicians prefer to protect the safety of hard-working, everyday people, instead of protecting criminals who want to harm them illegally here.
I am calling on the Board of Supervisors today to reconsider this new “super sanctuary” policy, and I am calling on the people of San Diego to speak up and make their voices heard. If this “super sanctuary” policy is not what you want for your community, call your supervisor and let them know. Because as Governor Schwarzenegger said, your safety should be their first priority and highest commitment.
