Techniques

Salon in the forest Aggressively makes you consider The Man Behind the Curtain as its narrative foundation is established through lab technicians Gary Stitterson (Richard Jenkins) and Steve Hadley (Bradley Whitford). Discovering that they are about to begin an annual ritual involving five college students spending the weekend in an isolated cabin in the woods, Gary and Steve head to a massive underground laboratory to do what they do best: witness the violent deaths of archetypes of stereotypical characters. some of which cannot yet be reasoned.
At the time, the viewer was informed that a bunch of students were getting ready for a party, and the real party was already taking place underground, as Gary and Steve opened a betting pool with the lives of the chosen victims in the balance.
Smashing dials and switches and preparing for the oncoming gore, the techs direct their items into the titular cockpit so they can unleash a batch of monsters, demons and zombies to do their bidding.
Victims

Never shying away from the tried and true horror tropes we all know and love, Salon in the forest featuring Dana (Kristen Connolly), Kurt Vugan (Chris Hemsworth), Jules Louden (Anna Hutchison), Marty Michalski (Fran Krantz), and Holden McCrea (Jesse Williams).
Each character’s personality embodies the classic horror movie victims you’d expect—Marty is a super-talkative stoner who won’t shut up about conspiracy theories, while Anna is known for being the messy girl of the group.
Rounding out the group are Kurt and Holden, who play on the same football team while attending university, and Dana, the brainiac.
Cabin

With the two aforementioned narratives running concurrently, Salon in the forest Play as a group of puppets trying to survive the whims of their sadistic masters back in the underground facility. From Mordecai The Harbinger’s (Tim de Zarn) warnings about the cabin’s violent past to the Latin incantations written in an old diary by the mysterious Patience Buckner (Jodelle Ferland) found in the cabin’s cellar, every interaction is meticulously planned and forced through the use of Trap doors, pheromone mists and other super high, manufactured bumps at night that transform a free weekend getaway into your stereotypical slasher film.
For example, when Curt assumes the group is staying together after a violent altercation, he immediately changes his mind and assumes the group is breaking up to cover more ground as he walks on an air fan that emits a mist designed to lower his inhibitions.
