Sony, Honda open bookings for 2026 Afeela 1 EV starting at $89,900
If you’ve been holding your breath for an electric sedan with the soul of the PS5 Pro, I’ve got great news. Sony Honda Mobility announced on his CES 2025 press conference that pre-orders are officially open for the upcoming Afeela 1 EV. The autonomy- and entertainment-focused sedan will retail for $89,900 for the Origin spec and $102,900 for the upgraded Signature model.
It’s “A-Feelas” (ahem) like we’ve seen Sony’s upcoming EV unveiling at CES for years. The Vision-S concept car first hit the scene in 2020, with the Afeela nameplate announced in 2023. The joint automaker has since used PS5 Dual Sense Controller to pilot the car on stage and this year called out the EV via voice command to highlight the car’s Afeela Personality Agent – an AI-powered digital assistant that you can talk to while in and out of the car and respond to you.
The biggest news on Monday, however, was the announcement of pricing and the opening of pre-orders in anticipation of spring 2026 deliveries. The top-spec $102,900 Signature will be the first to arrive with the full range of technology and options – much to the amusement of the dual rear seats, 21-inch wheels and a choice of gray, black and white exterior and interior colors. The $89,900 Origin models drop the rear seat screens, shrink to 19-inch wheels, and you can have it in any color you want, as long as it’s black. Deliveries of the cheaper spec begin in 2027.
Either way, Sony offers a 91-kilowatt-hour battery with an estimated range of up to 300 miles. NACS charging is standard at up to 150kW and each instance will be offered with the Afeela Intelligent Drive and Afeela Personal Assistant package. Of course, Sony’s massive pillar-to-pillar dash display is also standard, powered by Unreal Engine map graphics, driver assistance systems and the main user interface.
Sony tells us the Afeela EV will have 40 sensors for its driver assistance systems and feature what it calls “one-touch, end-to-end” autonomous driving. Just jump in and tell the car where to go and it will take you there while you consume content on the big screen. At least that’s the vision, the automaker’s pre-order website currently only lists Level 2 autonomy.
Interested parties may reserve their spot subject to a $200 refundable deposit Sony Honda Mobility’s Afeela booking site. Too rich for your blood? (Or live outside California?) You can still drive and experience Sony and Honda EVs in Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 5 for a lot less money.
