PEOPLE reports that husband and wife Anthony Gribble and Paula Gribble80 and 76 respectively, and Enrique Reyes64 years old, died. Gribble’s son held Lever at gunpoint until police arrived at the scene and arrested him on Friday, January 10. If it weren’t for his son’s actions, David Lever could have killed more people, Sheriff Paul Dance said in a press interview. The investigation found at least 50 guns in Lever’s home and lots of ammunition in his van.
The suspect appeared to be on a rampage Friday. David Lever’s timeline is a little fuzzy because surveillance footage shows him leaving the house at about 1:28 p.m. Around the same time, his neighbor, Enrique Reyes, was returning home from shopping at a nearby Food Lion. Less than 20 minutes after Lever left the house, he allegedly opened fire while leaving the Speedway gas station. By 2:17 p.m., police received a call that Lever had killed Griblow and was arrested.
Then, at 2:50 p.m., the police received a report of a shooting at an empty house. later on at approximately 3:35 p.m., police dispatched an ambulance to Reyes’ home after a 911 caller spotted him lying in the drivewayaccording to ABC 12 (WCTI).
Investigators eventually linked Lever to all the crime scenes. However, it is still unclear whether he personally knew each of the dead.
